New Delhi: The infamous kiss between Hollywood star Richard Gere and actress Shilpa Shetty at a public function in Delhi earlier this month has landed the two in legal trouble.

A Jaipur court on Thursday issued arrest warrants against the duo for their public kiss, which had evoked strong protests in several cities.

Jaipur city Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Dinesh Gupta issued the warrants on the basis of a PIL filed by Jaipur resident Poonam Chand Bhandari.

The controversial incident, which the organisers later described as an unplanned and harmless dance-and-kiss spoof, took place at an AIDS event organised by philanthropist Parmeshwar Godrej.

During the function, Gere jokingly grabbed Shilpa and planted several kisses on her cheek, to howls of appreciation from an audience, which mainly comprised lorry drivers.

The Wedding of India’s top actor Abhishek Bachchan with former beauty queen and current top actress Aishwarya Rai took place at Bachchan’s family home according to the Hindu Rituals with the blessing of Hindu Gods, Hindu priests, Bride’s parents, Groom’s parents, Relatives and Friends.

Only a select few like Ajay Devgan, Kajol, Sanjay Dutt, Preity Zinta, Suniel Shetty, Sonali Bendre from Bollywood were invited. The event was a private one, although there were thousands of fans turned at the venue to Greet the Newly married couple.

On the day of the wedding, the baraat left from “Jalsa” to move towards the venue of the wedding, “Prateeksha” at 4 pm. Jalsa and Prateeksha both are Bachchan’s Bungalows. The guests were taken by the special bus. On the way Abhishek Bachchan got off from the bus and climbed on a beautifully decorated white horse. Abhishek Bachchan was wearing a clear white outfit filled with beautiful hand work. His face was covered with the traditional style of flowers. Abhishek was weaving hand to the bystanders on the way to Prateeksha with traditional wedding band and dancers. Abhi’s sister Shweta was also seen gyrating with the baraatis while father Amitabh Bachchan was supervising the entire event.

The baraatis reached the venue and the mahurat for the wedding which was 5.30 pm on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, which is a best day to have Hindu Weddings. The wedding ceremony began behind the close doors With high security measures both in and around the house. There were more than 400 security personal on duty. Heavy traffic was experienced as the baraat was en route; fans were running and pushing for a glimpse of stars. Media people with line of cameras too were capturing all the possible actions.

MUMBAI: A struggling actress allegedly attempted suicide outside the Bachchans’ bungalow in suburban Juhu early on Friday morning, saying she was in love with Abhishek Bachchan.

Janhavi Kapoor, a city resident, cut her wrist outside Pratiksha contending she was in love with the junior Bachchan, who will tie the knot with Aishwarya Rai on Friday evening, a senior police officer said.

She alleged that Abhishek, whom she met during the shoot of a film, had also promised to marry her, the officer said.

At Seena Taan Ke, an AIDS awareness function organised in Delhi on Sunday to benefit truckdrivers, Gere and Shetty spoke to the vulnerable community about the dangers and misconceptions of AIDS.

Gere, looking more than a trifly dizzy, didn’t seem content merely to mention that HIV can’t be passed on through a kiss on the cheek — deciding to make his point by kissing first Shilpa’s hand, then hugged her, kissed her cheek, and finally bent over the surprised actress to give her a big kiss, Hollywood-style. While Shetty laughed it off with a poised ‘yeh thoda zyaada ho gaya’ (‘this was a bit much’) to the truckdrivers, they seem to have agreed. It is reported that audiences expressed distaste at this behaviour by a visiting celebrity. Some sections of the audience are apparently asking for an apology from both actors.

Looks like Salman and Katrina are poised to beat Abhishek and Aishwariya in the race to the altar by announcing their wedding on April 18 just two days before the wedding of Abhi-Ash. Salman said that he made the announcement in light of his urgency to get married and refused to comment further. This comes as good news for his fans that have been waiting for their star to tie the knot for many years. However the timing of his wedding is indeed doubtful.

A Pantaloon official said the pageant this year had decided to declared the Miss India-World as the official winner. 

Twenty-four-year-old Sarah-Jane Dias, a Channel [V] VJ and former Miss India-Oman (1995), won the title beating 24 other contestants.

The first runner-up, 22-year-old Puja Gupta, is an aspiring writer and her hobbies are Yoga, writing, horse riding and drawing, says her profile at the pageant’s official website.

The second runner-up, 21-year-old Pooja Chitgopekar, is a medical student in New Zealand and has won the Miss India-New Zealand (2002) contest, Miss India Worldwide (2003) (first runner-up) and Miss Auckland (2002) (first runner-up).

The event was judged by several celebrities including actors Sanjay Dutt , Priyanka Chopra , director Subhash Ghai and model Ujwalla Raut.

A life-size wax statue of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan was unveiled at the world-famous Madame Tussaud’s museum in London. Shahrukh Khan is the third celebrity from Bollywood to have his replica in the museum.

He joins Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and beauty queen Aishwarya Rai who made their wax presence in the museum earlier. Amitabh’s wax statue is reportedly watched by 25 lakh visitors to the museum every year.

Among the Indian leaders figuring in the museum are former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
