Mumbai, April 19: Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley says she will withdraw her lawsuit against Pooja Bedi, who allegedly called her mentally ill and delusional, if the latter issues a public apology.

`If she apologises to me in all the leading newspapers, I wouldn`t want to take this further. But calling someone delusional is not a small matter. I`ve nothing against Pooja. So I don`t know why she decided to talk like this. People are wondering why she has spoken like this,` Celina told reporters.

Though IPL’s opening ceremony on April 18 at Bangalore will have performances by Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif on behalf of Vijay Mallya’s team, Shahrukh Khan’s team won’t be left behind. Although Khan isn’t planning any acts, he’s carting B-Town’s glamorous brigade to boost the morale of the Kolkata Knight Riders. SRK’s Kolkata Knight Riders is being led by Sourav Ganguly while Mallya’s Royal Challengers is being captained by Rahul Dravid.

Event manager of BCCI, Venkat Vardhan of DNA Networks, admits, “Katrina and Zayed will be performing for both the Bangalore and Kolkata matches for the Royal Challengers while Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy will be performing at Bangalore. I don’t know about Kolkata Knight Riders’ plans. Being the home team, they will have an event in Kolkata.”
 
Says an actress on condition of anonymity, “SRK has invited lots of stars to attend the first few matches of his teams including the opening ceremony and the match at Kolkata on April 20. Karan Johar, Gauri Khan, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, Chunky and Bhavna Pandey, Riteish Deshmukh, Queenie Dhody, Kajal Anand, Karisma Kapoor and Malaika Arora will be attending the matches. Priyanka Chopra, Amrita Arora, Kareena Kapoor and Farah Khan were invited too.”

Amitabh Bachchan on Monday joined Tamil superstar Rajnikant in speaking the language of the state where some sections are targeting the Bollywood mega superstar on the “outsider” row in a bid to calm tempers.

Reaching out to Maharashtrians after questions were raised about his commitment to Marathi cause, the Big B spoke in Marathi language to tell he holds them “close to my heart.”

“Maharashtra has given me a lot. It has given me house, my wife… My association with Maharashtra goes back to over 40 years,” Bachchan told a TV channel.

Islamabad: Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar has said she will be very happy if her singing can improve relations between India and Pakistan.
Mangeshkar, who has never visited Pakistan, said she was once invited to perform in the neighbouring country during the rule of late Gen Zia-ul-Haq but the show was called off at the last minute.
“Everything was finalised and then the show was cancelled at the last minute. The organisers said they could not take responsibility for the show,” she told Dawn News channel in an interview aired on Monday night.
When the interviewer told her that a Pakistani poet had written a poem in which an Indian and a Pakistani arguing over Kashmir in a tea shop stopped squabbling after the owner of the establishment played a Lata Mangeshkar song, she said,
“If this happens, it will be very good.”

A source revealed, “During the first segment Aishwarya and Madhuri will share the stage by performing on their famous song from Devdas – dola re. I am sure they will do a great job and it will be a treat for the fans. The first segment will start in July and go on till August. The troupe will go to Canada, USA and Europe. It will have Amitabh, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan giving live performances but we haven’t decided on which dance numbers they will perform. The second phase will most probably start in November-December.”

Her last three films in 2007 – Namastey London (Hello London), Partner and Welcome – raked in profits at the box office.

Box Office India reported that her two comedies, with one of India’s leading male stars – Akshay Kumar – in Namastey London and Welcome, made over 370 million rupees ($13m) and 760 million rupees respectively.

Partner – a Bollywood rip-off of Will Smith’s romantic comedy Hitch which starred Indian comic star Govinda and Katrina’s boyfriend Salman Khan, made over 620 million rupees.

Katrina’s latest film, Race, which co-stars Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu, is also set to be a worldwide hit.

Mumbai tabloid Mid Day reported that the actress is also getting good money just to shake her booty. She reportedly pocketed 10.5 million rupees performing what Bollywood calls an ‘item number’ – where all she has to do is dance and lip synch to one of the soundtracks in the film.

Katrina will be dancing in a new movie called Blue, which stars Sanjay Dutt, her frequent co-star Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta, to be produced by Mumbai-based movie company Shree Ashtavinayak.

Having sent the cash registers ringing, Katrina is now considered to be somewhat of a ‘lucky mascot’ for Bollywood producers, an industry insider told Mid Day.
