Though “Taare Zameen Par” was a wonderful film but it failed to get an Oscar nomination in the foreign film category. To this the superstar Aamir Khan has said that he does not make films for “awards” but for the “audience”.

“I don’t make films for awards. I make films for the audience. The audience, for which I have made the film, really loved it and the audiences outside India have also loved it. What I am trying to say is that film has been well loved across the globe and that for me it is extremely heartening and something that I give very high value to,” Aamir said in an interview to NDTV 24×7.

The actor who was recently in the news for his hit psychological thriller “Ghajini” was also upbeat about the film’s effect on children.

On being asked about his decision to make a violent film with a U/A certificate after wielding the megaphone himself on an issue-based subject, he said: “I think the censor board gave it due thought before coming out with U/A certification, which means parental guidance.  Source

Bebo of bollywood Kareena Kapoor will be honoured by the Rotary Club for being the youngest achiever of the film industry.

She will be given the Vocational Excellence Award by Bansi Dhurandhar on Feb 1 at the Grand Hyatt, Santacruz.

‘It’s a privilege that Kareena will be given this award. She feels great that she is being recognized for the work that she has done in the film industry,’ said a source close to the actress.

This is the second award Kareena will be getting this year. She is also going to be awarded the India Today Woman Award 2009 for her contribution to the world of art and cinema by American legal clerk and environmental activist Erin Brockovich. Source

Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh has offered Aishwarya Rai to be his party’s candidate for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

It was something unimaginable to the naked eyes on the sets of Hello India where Akshay Kumar was with a guy bearing an uncanny resemblance to him. What was Akshay doing with a body double, when he is known to not use one for his action scenes? Producer-director Shabnam Kapoor said.

“Although Akshay loves doing all his scenes, we used the lookalike for his crowd scenes.”

Incidentally, Akshay has a track record of finishing all his incomplete films (Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin and Police Force are two) years after the films went on floors. Hello India is a similar film which was launched as Purab Ki Laila Paschim Ka Chaila ten years ago and was supposed to mark the debut of Namrata Shirodkar, who has already bid goodbye to the industry.

Shah Rukh Khan is in pain again. This time around, it’s for his shoulder. Shah Rukh had hurt his shoulder during an action scene during the shoot Dulha Mil Gaya at Mehboob Studios. He was undergoing physiotherapy sessions at Nanavati hospital before leaving for Los Angeles for the shooting of My Name Is Khan. Doctors had advised surgery for his shoulder even before he left the country but he didn’t want to delay Karan Johar’s schedule, so he didn’t go ahead with it.

The injury got aggravated during the shoot but he completed the schedule and now the pain is worse, and he cannot push the surgery ahead anymore. But now the actor is facing another dilemma.

Red Chillies’ Billu Barber is releasing in February, and the actor always keeps aside two weeks for aggressive promotion of his films. The source adds, “Now he has to decide whether to go for the surgery before or after the release. Anyway the amount of pain he is in, won’t permit him to promote his film, the way he wants to.” Source

The parents of the child actors whose acting skills helped “Slumdog Millionaire” win Oscar nominations and millions in gate receipts have said they were underpaid by the film’s makers.

The parents of Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Ismail, who live along railway tracks in Bandra, Mumbai, have accused the film’s producers of exploiting and underpaying the eight-year-olds. They said Rubina, who played Latika, was paid 500 pounds for a year’s work while Azharuddin, who acted as Salim, received 1,700 pounds.

The British newspaper said they were paid “considerably less” than the poor Afghan child stars of “The Kite Runner”, who embarrassed their Hollywood producers when they disclosed that they had been paid 9,000 pounds.

“There is none of the money left. It was all spent on medicines to help me fight TB,” said Azharuddin’s father, Mohammed Ismail.

“We feel that the kids have been left behind by the film. They have told us there is a trust fund but we know nothing about it and have no guarantees.”

Rubina’s father Rafiq Ali Kureshi, a carpenter who has been out of work since breaking his leg during filming, said: “I am very happy the movie is doing so well, but it is making so much money and so much fame and the money they paid us is nothing.

“They should pay more. I have no regrets. I just had no knowledge of what she should have been paid.”

Rubina told “I want to be a star like Freida (Pinto). I am going to ask Danny-uncle (director Danny Boyle) to take me to London and be in more films.” Source

Akshay Kumar may not have won many awards in his illustrious career but this honor coming from the Govt. of India surely means a lot to the ‘Kinng’ of Bollywood. As for Aishwarya, she has made the entire Bachchan parivar proud with this achievement. After Shri. Harivanshrai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya becomes the 4th family member of the Bachchan parivar to receive the Padma Shri.

Besides Akshay and Ash, veteran actress and dancing queen of yesteryears Helen was also bestowed with the Padma Shri for her contribution to art and cinema. Source

The Akbar of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan on Tuesday injured his wrist while shooting a stunt sequence for his home production ‘Kites‘. Hrithik was shooting in the suburbs for a stunt scene where he was supposed to break a glass. During the shot, a piece of glass pierced his wrist.

He was taken to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Centre in suburban Andheri and later discharged.

The actor’s publicist Dale Bahgvagar said “it is not a serious injury. Knowing his determination, he will bounce back very soon to resume shooting”.

Injury on the sets is not new to the actor. While shooting for ‘Krrish’ and ‘Dhoom 2′, the actor had torn a ligament in his right knee. Get Well Soon Duggu. Source
