Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Honoured With The Padmashree Award

It was a proud day for the Bachchan family as Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai was conferred the Padmashree Award, 2009, by president Pratibha Patil yesterday.

The actress was amongst the 62 personalities who received the Padma awards on Monday. Famous playback singer of yesteryear, Shamshad Begum, and director of the central board of Reserve Bank of India, Ashok Shekhar Ganguly were among other prominent persons to get the award from the President at the function in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Bachchan family seems to have all the reason to be happy. After all, the tag of the Padma Awards seems hard to be leaving from the family. Amitabh Bachchan himself is an awardee of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. His wife, Jaya, is an awardee of Padma Shri, and father, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, had been conferred with Padma Bhushan.
