Aishwarya Rai Became The Centre Of Attraction At The Derby Race
Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan turned many a head at the 162nd edition of the Prix de Diane horse race in Chantilly, north of Paris, on Sunday.
Ash was dressed for the occasion in a pale pink ensemble with an elaborate hat at a race known for its spectators’ extravagance in the choice of headgear. Accompanied by her mother Vrinda, the actress is in France for a series of events for the Swiss watch major Longines, which she endorses.

The event has a history of guests turning up in eccentric headgear. Some of the spectators in fancy hats can be seen above.
The watch major is the title sponsor of the event for the first time. To celebrate the occasion, they brought the “most elegant woman on earth” – also their ambassador – to give away the winner’s trophy. Spectators turned up in outlandish creations for the race.
Since the start of the Prix de Diane in 1843, the hat has evolved as an essential dress code. In the 1900s, it underscored the extent of people’s wealth.
This year, Ash presented the trophy to German Dietrich Von Boetticher, and his son Alexandre, owners of Golden Lilac, the filly that won the race. Source
