Shahrukh Khan Enters The i1 Super Series After The IPL

After owning a cricket team, Shah Rukh Khan is now venturing into the world of motorsports. The superstar has become a co-owner of the Mumbai franchise of the upcoming racing league i1 Super Series, by Machdar Motorsports.

SRK along with his partners of Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, the Mehta Group, will take charge of one of the nine teams to take part in the city-based competition. The highly anticipated Series will have 9 teams representing 9 different cities from across the country and blaze alive the tracks, where two cars represent each team, one driver being a certified international motorist and the other a certified Indian driver, by mandate.

The organizers are thrilled with SRK’s involvement in the initiative of Machdar Motorsports as they see it as a big boost for the championship that will commence on 8th January, 2012.

Shah Rukh feels that the i1 Super Series is a very interesting concept as it gets racing drivers from across the globe to partner with young Indian talent and after the inaugural Indian GP it is clear that motorsports is hugely popular in India.
