Shahrukh Khan Cancels His Berlin Premiere Trip Due To Health Issues
He is suffering from fever and cold and has been advised rest by his doctors and may not be travelling to Berlin at all for the Berlinale Special screening of DON 2. Surprisingly there was no confirmation of this news from SRK’s PR office in India that has no idea of the change in his programme. If SRK’s Berlin programme is indeed cancelled, his countless German fans will be disappointed. The ticket sales to the premiere of the film had started on 6th February and were sold within a few hours.
SRK’s European fans were to arrive in large numbers in the city to have a glimpse of their heartthrob and cheer him up at the red carpet. This will also upset the plans of Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg to use the occasion to promote the city as an important attraction for Indian tourists. The gala premiere of DON 2, on 11th February 2012, is certain to be a dull affair now. However, according to reports, film’s female lead Priyanka Chopra, director Farhan Akhtar, producer Ritesh Sidhwani and the German stars Florian Lukas, Florian Fitz and Rike Schmid, are certain to attend the red carpet.
The preparations for the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival are on. Interestingly, so far, there is very little to be seen around the main festival venue and on the streets of Berlin in terms of the publicity of DON 2. In 2010, at the time of the release of MY NAME IS KHAN, the entire city was splashed with the film’s posters and hoardings. The saturation publicity and promotion had turned the film’s screening into a major event of the festival. There is no such visible hype created around DON 2 and with the almost certain absence of the Bollywood’s badshah, it may turn out to be a non-event. This is what happened to Vishal Bhardwaj’s SAAT KHOON MAAF, a Berlinale Panorama entry last year (2011). Source
