The Secret Behind Kangna Ranaut’s New Look

National award winning actress Kangana Ranaut, who has made her unique mark in the industry by doing some significant roles, is gearing up to star in an out-an-out male centric gangster film SHOOTOUT AT WADALA, being jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta.

When it was brought to Kangana’s notice that SHOOTOUT AT WADALA is an absolute male show, the pretty actress at once highlighted the importance of her role in the film. Kangana said, “This is true that it’s a gangster film and a male centric film. But I play John’s love interest and I am the romantic force of the film. And I am pretty sure audience will love my role.”

Call it a coincidence of sorts, right from her first film GANGSTER till SHOOTOUT AT WADALA, the beautiful actress got to play gangsters’ love interest time and again. This time around Kangana is playing the character of Vidya Joshi, who is the girlfriend of Don Manya Surve in SHOOTOUT AT WADALA.

“I think Don logon ko mai jyaada pasand aati hun,” she quips and adds, “This is quite a coincidence that right from my first film I have been playing love interests of gangsters. But I have not deliberately chosen such scripts. SHOOTOUT AT WADALA is a very special film to me and that’s why I wanted to be a part of it. I don’t think it really matters in how many films I have played gangster’s girlfriend. But this film is different from what I have done earlier”

Further, when probed about her look in the film, Kangana revealed that her look in the crime thriller is inspired from Bollywood divas Smita Patil, Rekha and Shabana Azmi. “I play a common Maharashtrian girl. Since the story of SHOOTOUT AT WADALA is set in 70s and 80s, my look is also inspired from that period. We have kept it authentic. Our references were Smita Patil, Shabanaji and Rekhaji. Fashion will be there in the film but not over the top. I find the period look very interesting.”

SHOOTOUT AT WADALA is all set to go on floors from March 1, 2012.
