Meet The ‘Shanghai’ Item Bomb; Scarlett Mellish Wilson

The makers have tooted a warning before detonating the actual bomb — another item girl is making her way to the la la land. Surprisingly, the item song features in Dibakar Banerjee’s film Shanghai, and the makers of the film have released an image of the movie’s item girl with the title ‘Imported Kamariya’, without disclosing the name of the oomph babe in the picture.

Let us crack the mystery for you! The sensuous damsel shown in the image is actually the new import to the tinsel town. She is a model of British origin and her name is Scarlett Mellish Wilson. Donning the garb of a desi chammiya (Munni, Sheila etc.), the item girl looks sensational as she makes her Bollywood debut with this song.

Actually Dibakar Banerjee spilled the beans about the girl last year but she was kept under wraps to retain the novelty factor of the song. Talking about at that time, Dibakar was all praise for this item girl named Scarlett Mellish Wilson. He said, “Someone recommended Scarlett for our item song. I couldn’t believe how well she danced! Scarlett is by far one of the best dancers in the Bollywood form I’ve seen. Usually when foreigners do Bollywood dancing, there’s a certain amount of stiffness in their movements. Not Scarlett. She takes to the rhythms as though she was born to the desi beat.”

The item song composed by Vishal-Shekhar is actually a satire on Indian people’s fascination for fair-skinned girls from abroad like Katrina Kaif, Nargis Fakhri and recently Nathalia Kaur. Thus the item number has a situational relevance in the film.

It’s also learnt that Dibakar Banerjee was keen on roping in Katrina Kaif for the song, but since new hotties are more in demand for the item numbers, he went for a fresh face. Here’s the first look of ‘Imported Kamariya’, and now you know who she is. Source
