The yes and the no for the mega event are common every year. Big names in Bollywood from Amitabh Bachchan to Shahrukh Khan to Salman Khan have confirmed their presence at the upcoming International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards 2010 but Arjun Rampal will miss it.
Arjun can’t attend the event, as he is going to promote his upcoming release Raajneeti by Prakash Jha, which has invited lots of controversies including his love-making scene with a theatre actress. He cleared it on his Twitter page, “Will not be going to IIFA, have a charity event in Hong Kong for Raajneeti that day.”
Arjun had earlier said that he had observed young politicians like Rahul Gandhi, Sachin Pilot, Milind Deora, the young Rajiv Gandhi and the young Sanjay Gandhi to know their mannerism and body language for his role in the film. Source
Arjun Rampal is looking forward to the release of RAAJNEETI this June where he has a pivotal role to play. Still, one wonders where Arjun was for most part of year 2009. Except for a sole release in the form of FOX (which came and went without making any noise whatsoever), Arjun seemed totally missing from all the action?
“Nahi yaar, I wasn’t missing from action. In fact I was working on as many as three films right through the year”, explains Arjun, “I was out of country for two months working on HOUSEFULL and after that I was in Bhopal soon after to shoot for RAAJNEETI. Meanwhile, amidst all this travel, I was also opening my club and had to spend some time on that. Once I was done with this, I went into doing the remake of STEPMOM for Dharma Productions.”
He adds with a sigh, “In fact today I feel like taking some real break from action because all these films and events took a lot out of me. It was all so very exhausting. However, looks like I would have to wait for a while because now I am shooting for RA.ONE.” More
Not many people have gone this deep but first came Farhan Akhtar’s Box Office hit ‘Don’, which was followed by Farah Khan’s super successful ‘Om Shanti Om’ and now, it’s Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Ra.One.’ It seems the SRK-Arjun Rampal jodi is here to stay.
Looks like Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal cannot get enough of each other. Recently, King Khan lavished praise on his ‘Ra.One’ co-star Arjun Rampal. News has it that Arjun, who appears in a very stylish look, plays a major role in the film.
SRK himself confessed Arjun’s cool quotient on the sets of ‘Ra.One.’ Speaking to a news daily about Arjun, Shah Rukh said, “Arjun makes the action look so good. Arjun looks awesome in the film. I am scared of his wife my dear friend. If he doesn’t look good Meher will beat me up so have to make sure.”
Meanwhile, Arjun compliments Shah Rukh, stating, “Thank you, it is always a pleasure to work with you….having too much fun. This action will be memorable. We both are badly bruised.” Source
After working with model-turned-National Award winner Arjun Rampal in ‘Raajneeti’, Ranbir Kapoor considers him a ‘brother for life’ and says he loves him so much that he feels extremely jealous of Arjun’s wife. ‘I have had a wonderful time working with Arjun in ‘Raajneeti’. He is my brother for life. I love him a lot. In fact I love him so much, so much that I am jealous that Mehr is his wife,’ Ranbir said while addressing a press conference at the Galaxy Hotel here Saturday.
The two actors were in a fun mood as they stood up and started clapping as soon as their co-actor Katrina Kaif stepped on to the stage. They even banged the table instead of clapping later, and Ranbir kept dropping the cap of a plastic water bottle placed on the dais. Even Arjun went out of his way to confess his feelings for Ranbir as well as the other cast and crew members of ‘Raajneeti’, directed by critically acclaimed Prakash Jha.
‘I have found a good friend in Prakash, guide in Nana (Patekar) sir, enemy in Manoj (Bajpai), a younger brother in Ranbir and Katrina has been a wonderful person who lets me pull her leg,’ Arjun said. Source
Arjun Rampal was excited narrating the scenic description of his latest commercial for Schweppes where Nicole Kidman walks straight into his room unzipping her dress. “It’s quite a gripping humor at the end where Nicole walks and unzips her dress intending to go for. Fine! It’s up to audiences to decide what I would go for… Schweppes or Nicole” jocularly adds Arjun.
Ask him to describe Nicole Kidman and he comes up with adjective appraisals, “She’s tall, fabulous, gorgeous, and professional and has ball of fire rolling”. Certainly, doesn’t miss his chance of picturing Nicole as a bit serious person who continues adding that the actress was overpoweringly attractive before the lens.
Now, it’s more off a grand joy for the makers as they’ve taken this commercial to Cannes International Festival. Arjun comments, “I’m not sure attending the ceremony. But I guess there would be whole of fun to spend 24hrs of time in Cannes with my family.” Source
The second day of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai saw the charity show Mai Mumbai. Supermodel Naomi Campbell and hotelier Vikram Chatwal joined hands with LFW to host this show. This is a fashion for relief benefit to raise funds for those affected by the terrorist attacks of 26/11.
Arjun Rampal was one of the stars who walked down the ramp with his gorgeous wife Meher. The show was a grand success on the second day of the Lakme Fashion Week. Source
After the super success of Rock On, Arjun Rampal is now ready to turn mean with his shrewd politician act in Prakash Jha’s Rajniti. Presently he is in Bhopal and closely watching the local politicians preparing for the poll campaigning for a seat in the forthcoming Lok Sabha.
“My role in Rajniti is very challenging and at the same time really interesting. I play the role of a politician, who carries a lot of influence in North Indian states such as Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. We are shooting in Bhopal right now to lend authenticity to the subject.”
Arjun further added, “Prakashji had recommended me few books and articles on politicians to prepare for the role so I read several of these books at the library at the Bhopal University. But I can’t reveal on which real life politician. I really can’t take the name of the politician as I’m not allowed to speak about him right now.”
The star, who has shaved his head for the role, said, “I really miss my hair but kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padta hai.” Source
