Govinda’s 2008 Slap Case; Bail Granted Finally

Actor Govinda has been granted bail for slapping a man in 2008.

Govinda slapped a visitor on the sets while shooting for his film Money Hai to Honey Hai, accusing him of misbehaving with artistes, including women.

Govinda said he had been observing for quite some time that the visitor–a man–had been “misbehaving” with the artistes and kicking the legs of the chair on which the actor was sitting. When Govinda asked the visitor if he had come to the sets with some artists or the media, he replied he was an “outsider who has come just like that”.

Govinda had not appeared before the court, despite being summoned earlier. The court said it would issue a warrant against him if he didn’t turn up again, which is when he appeared. He has been given bail on a Rs 10,000 cash bond and Rs 15000 personal bond.

Govinda, seen last year in the box-office dud Loot, will be seen in a comedy Run Bhola Run, this year. Source

David Dhawan Doesn’t Misses Salman & Govinda

It is over half a decade after ‘Shaadi No. 1′ that David Dhawan is making a movie without Salman Khan or Govinda. There is no bad blood though and those hunting for a controversy here are bound to be disappointed. That’s because ‘Rascals’ is not the first instance of David moving over from his favourite actors. Even during his heydays in the 90s, he wasn’t sticking to only Salman or Govinda.

“Other senior actors like Anil Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor were always there in his list,” the source continues, “Though he is remembered most for his Govinda and Salman starrers, he made over ten films with Kapoors as well. He doesn’t belong to any camps and has experimented even with Akshay Kumar and Bobby Deol. As for Sanju, his association has continued right from the ‘Taaqatwar’ days to ‘Shaadi No. 1′.”

No wonder, David Dhawan doesn’t hesitate for a second when questioned if he missed working with Salman Khan and Govinda, the men with whom he has delivered his biggest hits till date. More

Govinda Has Lost 20 Kgs. Of Weight

There simply cannot be a better example of dedication and hard work. Govinda has reportedly lost more than 20 kgs lately and is looking in shape like any of the current stars. After failing to get films as lead, given his overweight looks, Govinda has shed the extra pounds to look out for some solo projects again.

Our sources reveal that “In the last few years Govinda has realized that he is not being preferred as a solo actor given his looks. This was reason enough for the actor to shed more than 20kgs in the last few months. Having got back his shape, Govinda is now pitching for solo hero projects again. Though they may not be big banner films, but the actor does not mind it till he gets to play the lead.” More

Govinda Dances With Madhuri Dixit In Jhalak Dikhla Jaa

The dhak dhak diva Madhuri Dixit and comedy king Govinda relived their more than a decade-old memories as they danced together to their popular number Makhna for an episode of reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4.

The song from the 1998 film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan became a chartbuster for its peppy tune and catchy dance steps by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda and Madhuri. So, the two actors didn’t miss the chance to dance to the song again when they met on the sets of the reality show.

While Madhuri is a judge on the show, Govinda came to support his nephew Krushna Abhishek, a participant in the dance competition.

It was at Krushna’s behest that Madhuri and Govinda took to the dance floor on the song, said a source.

The episode will be on air on Sony Entertainment Television on Monday. Source

David Dhawan Trying To Sort Out Things Between Salman & Govinda

Director David Dhawan has taken it upon himself to bring together Govinda and Salman Khan, both of whom reportedly are not on speaking terms any more. David, their close associate, and who has done the maximum number of films with them, is now in the process of bringing them together for the sequel to ‘Partner’.

But stories about the real-life rift between the reel-life partners are taking a toll on David. He is toying with the idea of hosting a party to celebrate the Salman-Govinda friendship.

‘And why just the Salman-Govinda friendship? It will be to celebrate the Salman-Govinda-David friendship. I get very disturbed when I hear about their so-called rift. Arrey yaar, both are far above such bickering. Look at Govinda’s track-record. He has been at the top for decades. As for Salman, with ‘Dabangg’ he has proved he is beyond all competition,’ Dhawan says.

‘I hate to see people talking about two of my closest friends in this negative way. So yes, a party celebrating Salman and Govinda’s friendship and my friendship with them seems a good idea,’ he adds. More

Govinda Is Upset With Salman Khan

Reportedly, Govinda is upset with Salman Khan. The reason behind the anger is that Salman Khan has promised a promising launching pad for Govinda’s daughter but till date he has not fulfilled his promise. On the other hand, the fact that Salman is taking huge interest in Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi Sinha and offered her a film like ‘Dabangg’ did not go well with Govinda. He wants something similar for his daughter but Sallu Miya is not taking any interest.

Salman and Govinda are thick friends and together they have delivered several hits. Their awesome pair is cherished by the public but due to personal reason, a barrier has been developed. Govinda is not taking the fact lightly that Salman Khan is ignoring his daughter.

We too request Salman to take some interest in Govinda’s daughter career also. Source

Govinda’s Role In Raavan

After Govinda signed up for Mani Ratnam’s modern-day version of the Ramayana, speculations about what his character in the film would be like have been taking the rounds.
The actor is reportedly playing a character, modelled on Hanuman. He will be seen playing a forest officer who helps Vikram’s character Dev to hunt for his wife, Ragini (played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), who has been abducted by Beera (Abhishek Bachchan).

Reportedly, Ratnam, miffed with Govinda’s tardiness, altered his scenes, and the actor was aghast to learn that his part had been abruptly chopped. The actor’s absence at the music launch in May, compounded the speculation that there was something awry between the actor and the director.

Ratnam denies trimming the actor’s role: “Govinda’s role has shaped up amazingly in context of the storyline.” When asked why he cast the actor in the forest officer’s role, Ratnam explains, “Sometimes we cast faces against the image. When you’re putting the cast together, you realise that for a certain role with limited screen time, a star will be essential because he or she can add meat to the character. Govinda easily blended into his character.” More

Govinda’s Absence At The Music Launch Of ‘Raavan’

The rumour mill in Bollywood has gone into overdrive, with Govinda’s absence from the Raavan music launch on April 24th leading some to suggest that Govinda is unhappy with how his role in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming film turned out. It seems that on viewing the rushes of Raavan, the funnyman was disappointed to discover that his role – fairly small to begin with – was much smaller than he had imagined. According to the gossip, Govinda stayed away from the star-studded music launch (that the rest of the cast attended) in Mumbai in protest.

Govinda himself denies the rumours, saying: “I couldn’t attend the event on Saturday at such short notice. I was informed about it only two days in advance. I had to be in Vrindavan for a puja on Saturday. It was a day meant for prayers for the welfare of one’s children. How could I skip that?”

He adds: “I realise my absence was noticeable because the entire cast was there. I’m sure Mani Ratnam, who’s a Brahmin like me, realised the importance of that day in the Hindu calendar. In fact, he chose April 24 to release the music of Raavan for the same reason I was in Vrindavan.” More

Govinda’s Forthcoming Film Is Getting Delayed

Govinda had almost given up as an actor when he got into politics and had a rough time even as a politician. He made a come back with ‘Partner’ with the support of friends like David Dhawan and Salman Khan. He had two other films that followed, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ and ‘Life Partners’ which gave him some confidence.

But there is one film he is banking on and that is B. R. Film’s ‘Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai’, a film which was completed a year ago, but has been lying in the cans for different reasons. It faced the biggest problem when a Hollywood company filed a suit for heavy damages for lifting an original subject made in Hollywood. The director, Ravi Chopra managed to get an out of court settlement for which he had to pay a staggering price.

The film seems to be facing other problem which is holding back its release indefinitely. Govinda is now looking forward to what he considers to be the best film of his career, a film called ‘Chai Garam’ made by a group of young and enthusiastic film makers. Source

Govinda – Bad Habbits Die Hard

People learn from their mistakes but some people do opposite of that. Bad habits die hard and in Govinda’s case, they don’t even do that. Apparently, the Late Latif No. 1 failed to get away on the sets of Raavana where, this time, he kept not just co-stars Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan waiting… but also that stickler for time, director Mani Ratnam himself!

Not known to take a lenient view of tardiness, Mani reportedly lost his cool when Govinda didn’t turn up on time. Improvising on the script, he deleted Govinda’s portion out of the scene and went ahead with the shooting, said a source.

Later, when Govinda walked in and apologised to Mani, the director snapped and told him that he’s not required for the scene anymore! Source
