Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum opus ‘Jodha Akbar’ has won the prestigious Grand Pix award at the Golden Minbar, the film festival for Muslim cinema held at Kazan in Russia recently.

Bollywood actor, Hrithik Roshan was adjudged the best actor award for his magnificent performance as Emperor Akbar. ‘Jodha Akbar’ shared the best film honours with an Iranian film ‘M for Mother’. The films were selected by the jury from the official section that consisted of 35 films– ten full-length feature, 12 short-length feature and 13 documentary films, in the competition.

Gowariker said he was overwhelmed by the honour and added that he was proud of Hrithik who won the best actor award. “His portrayal of Akbar is a magnificent one, full of nuances and detailing, which is rarely seen on screen,” he said. Source

The big flick director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has got the bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone signed up for his next film opposite the hunky Hrithik Roshan. Bhansali is hoping to get the rest of the cast sorted by end of this month and expects to start shooting as soon as Hrithik completes his current assignment, Kites.Deepika Padukone seems to be flying on charts after her sensational debut in Om Shanti Om opposite the king Shahrukh Khan. This time we have to see how Hrithik & Deepika will look together onscreen.

After a gap of nearly one year, Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan will once again graze the silver screen.

Hrithik, who has not been seen since the release of epic flick Jodhaa Akbar, has a special appearance Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance – which releases on 23rd January 2009. An industry insider says that Hrithik Roshan will star as himself and is featured in a total of 15 minutes.

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has hurt his knees once again, this time while doing a dangerous car stunt for home production “Kites” in Las Vegas. Though doctors advised him eight weeks rest, the brawny actor was about and running just three days after the accident.

“I hurt myself while jumping from a car. It looked really bad. The doctor said my knee would require eight weeks of healing. He said I’d be limping on crutches for at least two weeks,” Hrithik said.

A source said: “All hell broke loose and there was panic. Hrithik was in considerable pain and unable to move. And since there was just a few days’ shooting left director Anurag Basu wondered what to do.” The accident would have put “Kites” and Hrithik’s career behind with damaging consequences. In fact, papa Rakesh Roshan was adamant that they’d rather wrap up and lose out on the schedule than risk Hrithik’s knee further.

But three days after the injury Hrithik had a miraculous recovery. “I don’t know how it happened. On the third day after the accident I was running on my injured knee. So it’s all fine,” said Hrithik. Full News

The Bollywood Emperor Hrithik Roshan is reportedly all set to work with the talented director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whom he had always desired to work with. Reports reveal that the superstar gave a ‘yes’ to the filmmaker, when he approached Hrithik for his next project.

However, there has not been any official confirmation of the deal from Hrithik’s side. His business manager neither denied nor confirmed the actor’s commitment to the role. Not much has been revealed about Sanjay’s forthcoming film but evidently, if Hrithik is playing a character then the film would surely be exceptional, as the actor is extremely choosy about the films he does.

Hrithik is presently shooting for his home-production ‘Kites’ in Los Angeles. He will be back in Mumbai with his team on October 12 after which he would resume in accordance to Mumbai schedule. Source

Hrithik who has sported a moustache in Jodhaa Akbar, a tan in Dhoom 2 will now be sporting a beard in Kites! A unit hand of the film revealed, “Hrithik will have a thin moustache and beard in Kites. The actor is looking as great as ever in the look. He has also lost weight to look fitter. He also insists on performing all the stunts by himself.”

If rumours are to be believed the film is based on Hollywood film ‘Match Point’. The film has been mostly shot in Mexico and Las Vegas and has Kangana Ranaut and Barbara Mori as Hrithik’s co-stars. Source

Hrithik Roshan’s father Rakesh Roshan seems to have taken some cues from the failure of Krazzy 4 at the box office. He has now decided to concentrate on the commercial aspects of the film and signed director Anurag Basu who delivered a super hit film Life in a … Metro . But Roshan is not satisfied with the way Kites is developing.

Reportedly, Roshan saw some rushes of the film and was disappointed by cinematographer Bobby Singh’s work. He has decided to hire a better man for the work and also suggested Basu to re-shoot certain scenes.

Roshan is currently in Las Vegas with the entire unit of Kites on an 80-day schedule. According to a source, Kites is like Roshan’s baby and he doesn’t want to take any chances and has therefore decided to edit the movie himself. Roshan has learnt from his past mistakes and is making efforts to not repeat those again. Source

Hrithik Roshan has begun a new career as babysitter, star enjoying time with Barbara Mori’s son.

Latin actress Barbara Mori, who will soon be seen in Bollywood flick Kites, has managed to rope in her co-star Hrithik Roshan to babysit her young son.

Sources from the sets of the film in New Mexico have said that Hrithik has become very fond of Barbara’s son and spends time between takes playing with him. And in return, the kid is teaching Hrithik Spanish.

However, Hrithik’s wife Sussanne and their own young son Hridhaan will soon be travelling to New Mexico. Which will mean a conflict of interest for Hrithik… let’s hope he doesn’t neglect his own blood. Source

Things are not in favour of Rakesh Roshan’s Kites in New Mexico. The producer upset cinematographer Bobby Singh so much that the he stormed out of the under-production film. Kites, being directed by Anurag Basu stars Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori. It was the director who brought the cinematographer on board. They’d worked together in the past in Metro, Woh Lamhe and Gangster. And Roshan agreed to have him on board after seeing his work.

According to a reliable source, “Bobby and Anurag are friends, besides being a great team. Basu appreciates Bobby’s work and gives him a free hand. But Roshan had his own ideas of how the film should look. He didn’t agree with Bobby’s style and would interfere in camera angles and light shots etc. Initially Bobby kept quiet as Rakesh is a senior filmmaker and creative differences happen on every set. But as the days went by, Bobby felt his work as a cinematographer was increasingly getting undermined.” More

MTV has three mega projects coming up, with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan. The films will be announced on September 9. Ashish Patil, General Manager, MTV India, will make the announcement.

The three stars have still not had any releases so far, even as they’re busy working on some big projects. Shah Rukh is currently working on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which will release in December. But before that, he will be seen in Billo Barbar, scheduled for a Diwali release. Aamir’s Ghajni will also release later this year. His next, 3 Idiots, will release some time next year. Hrithik is currently working on Kites, directed by Anurag Basu.

So far, MTV has kept away from movie-making in India except for a short film, Ghoom, which was a spoof of the blockbuster, Dhoom. Source
