Ban For Kya Super Kool Hain Hum In Goa

The Congress in Goa Thursday demanded a ban on the Ekta Kapoor produced film “Kya Super Kool Hain Hum,” saying the film offended the sensibilities of the Christian community.

Addressing a press conference here, Congress spokesperson and legislator Reginaldo Lourenco said that a first information report (FIR) would be filed against Kapoor in Panaji Friday.

“We are demanding a ban on the screening of the film because it insults Christians. The FIR will be filed tomorrow,” Lourenco said.

A scene in the film, which stars Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh, shows another actor, Chunky Pandey (playing the role of a priest), solemnise the wedding of a dog and a bitch.

Lourenco raised the issue of a possible ban on the film or censoring the controversial scenes in it during the recently-concluded monsoon session of the Goa legislative assembly.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, however, said that the Central Board of Film Certification, the statutory censorship and classification body, functioned under the aegis of the central and not the state government and hence not much could be done by the Goa government.

“This is not under the jurisdiction of the state government because censor board jurisdiction lies with the central government. No religious group should be offended in the film. If you give me a complaint in writing, I will take it up with the board,” Parrikar said.

Lourenco said that the Goa government had succeeded in banning “The Da Vinci Code”, following protests by Christian groups several years back and that the same could be done with “Kya Super Kool Hain Hum”.

Vilasrao Deshmukh is No More

Thousands of grieving supporters and family on Wednesday bade a tearful adieu to Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh whose mortal remains were consigned to flames at his native Babhalgaon village from where he began his political journey as an obscure sarpanch four decades ago.

A sea of humanity, including hundreds of moist-eyed women, converged here, on the outskirts of district town of Latur, for the last glimpse of the illustrious son of the soil who rose in their midst to stride the corridors of power in Mumbai and Delhi.

“I am feeling very sorry. I have known Vilasrao Deshmukh for years. Riteish is a close friend of mine, I spoke to him,” Shah Rukh Khan told reporters here at an event.

“I am very sad. It is unexpected. He was a wonderful gentleman apart from being the Chief Minister. I am deeply disturbed. I am very sorry to hear this… my respects to the family,” SRK added.

The last rites were performed by Deshmukh’s eldest son and Latur town MLA Amit at a family farm close to where his father Dagdojirao Deshmukh was cremated.

Deshmukh, 67, died yesterday at Chennai’s Global Hospital from serious liver ailment, a week after he was flown in an air ambulance from Mumbai in a critical condition.

Earlier, a solemn-looking Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi placed wreaths on the casket carrying the body of Deshmukh, state’s tallest Congress leader and twice chief minister, at Dayanand Vidyalaya where it lay in state for public to pay their last respects.

Gandhi walked up to Deshmukh’s widow Vaishali, who fought back tears, and held her in comforting embrace as the Prime Minister offered his condolences to the departed leader’s son Amit. Deshmukh’s teary-eyed family members, including his wife, actor son Riteish and Dheeraj, acknowledged with gratitude the condolences with folded hands.

Actress Raveena Tandon reached out to both Riteish and his actress wife Genelia D’Souza on twitter. “Rest In Peace Vilasrao Deshmukh. Condolences to the bereaved family, @Riteishd and @geneliad, words cannot express the shock nd grief we are feeling,” she wrote.

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi offered her condolences, saying he was too young to die. “Vilasrao Deshmukh no more. Too young to die. As CM he gave Nivara a lot of support for our slum rehabilitation project. Condolences to the family.”

Latest Review Of Kya Super Kool Hain Hum

‘Sex’ and ‘comedy’ are two of the most significant elements of Bollywood films but haven’t been often spoken in the same breath. So when the Kyaa Kool Hain Hum series attempts to do so, however juvenile the adult humour might appear, the combo is still tempting and tantalizing.

Kya Super Kool Hai Hum’s revolves around the story of two brothers: Adi (Tushar Kapoor) and Sid (Riteish Deshmukh). Adi is a struggling actor, who dreams of making a grand debut in Bollywood with films like ‘Chingham’, Adidas (Devdas). Sid (Riteish Deshmukh)’s DJing skills are wasted on sad Gujarati-gone-wild parties. According to an astrologer, Adi’s fortunes will turn when he meets the love of his life, Simi (Neha Sharma).

Then, love strucks when Adi meets Simi and falls head over heels in love with her. On the other hand, Sid meets model Anu (Sarah Jane Dias) at a fashion show, where Anu suffers a “wardrobe malfunction.” Things turn ugly, yet funny after they land up in Goa. Next, what happens? Watch it out to know the remaining part.

What works for the film is the fact that it is extremely unapologetic about the ‘nonsense’ that they have churned out for the audience. In the climax, when compared to Jai of ‘Sholay’ and Anand of ‘Anand’, Deshmukh says, ‘Hum ordinary film ke hero hai, woh extra ordinary films the’. Yes, the film is just that-ordinary, in fact lower than that. But they seem to have fun. Yes, some bits are funny, quite hilarious and Riteish and Anupam Kher share a ‘good chemistry’, which makes their scenes enjoyable to watch. But they are far and few in between. It is also unfortunate to see a veteran actor like Kher mouth dialogues full of double meanings. Kher’s comic timing remains intact but to see him being part of a film like this makes you cringe a bit.

Kya Super Kool hai Hum get into Controversy

Balaji Telefilms and Ekta Kapoor might not have faced this number of controversies in such a short span of time for a single film which they are getting with the sequel Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum.

It was meant to be a harmless and naughty pun on a dog, but things seem to have gone astray for the Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum makers. The dog’s name in Ekta Kapoor’s film happens to be Fakhruddin. However, this is also the name of India’s fifth President — Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. As a result, the ex-President’s family and a Muslim trust have objected to this ‘dishonour.’

Delhi-based Muslim Ekta Trust has threatened legal action against the filmmakers if changes are not made.

The makers, though, are surprised by the uproar and demand to change the name of the dog or remove the parts of the film mentioning it. “The request is unbelievably bizarre. It’s a proper noun. Anyway, we will see what we can do about it,” says Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, the film’s producers.

Insiders from the unit, meanwhile, are surprised. “It’s just a name. This way, we won’t be able to use any name in the future,” says a unit member. Apparently, no change to the dog’s name has been made yet. “The re-editing will cost a lot of money. Once we send the film for censor certification, we will make changes if required,” says the insider.

Dr Aleem of Delhi Mumbai Muslim Ekta Trust feels offended by the act and expresses, “Such things are bound to hurt religious sentiments. If it releases, we’ll file a case against the makers in Delhi High Court. We won’t let the film release with such a thing.”

When sources contacted, Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures confirmed: “Yes, the Censor Board requested that certain dialogues be cut from the trailer to get an U/A certification and we readily complied. The Dress Code For The Bride Genelia D’Souza

No bling and shimmer for a wedding dress? That’s rare! But for Genelia D’Souza’s wedding ensemble, the ace fashion designer Ritu Kumar has created a regal, elegant dress which is a far cry from the usual glitzy, over-the-board wedding attire.

The veteran designer, who likes to blend tradition with modernity, and uses the rich embroidery heritage of India for her bridal collection, has once again visited history for Genelia. Ritu wanted to avoid the usual bling and shimmer for Genelia’s wedding trousseau because she didn’t want clothes to overshadow the actress’ vivacious personality. “The silhouette which I designed for her (Genelia) is simple yet elegant and chic,” says Ritu Kumar.

Ritu Kumar has designed two dresses for Genelia, and for the wedding day, Kumar has designed a lehanga, choli and odhni in gold and indigo blue for Ritesh Deshmukh’s bride. The blouse is made of indigo blue velvet with antique dhapka embroidery, while the lehanga has antique gold weaving with zardozi embroidery. According to the designer, the wedding ensemble of Genelia resembles a 19th century archival piece. More
