What reminded Salman Khan of ‘Karan Arjun’

Salman Khan admits that while shooting for an inner wear ad, he was reminded of his film ‘Karan Arjun’.Directed by Rakesh Roshan, 1995 release ‘Karan Arjun’ featured Salman and Shah Rukh Khan together, who were among the top actors of that time. Also starring Raakhee as their mother, the film featured Kajol and Mamta Kulkarni as the female leads.

One of the scenes of blockbuster ‘Karan Arjun’ where Durga, played by Raakhee, says her sons (Karan and Arjun) will come back, was shot in the Mehboob Studio, the same place where Salman has shot for the inner wear ad.”It (shooting for the ad) reminded me of `Karan Arjun`.

I was shooting for `Karan Arjun` in Mehboob Studio and there was also the same ambience during my introduction scene in the film. It was the same (ambience for ad film) and I was reminded of the scene, `Mere bete aayenge, Karan-Arjun aayenge, dharti ka seena phaadkar aayenge` and then I enter the boxing ring,” said Salman. He added: “Arbaaz has the worst body among all of us (Salman, Sohail and Arbaaz) and Sohail is the fittest now.”

Salman Khan’s Mental suffers Rs.25 crore loss

Producer-director Sohail Khan and actor Salman Khan‘s forthcoming film Mental seems to have hit a hurdle, as the movie already has incured a loss of Rs.25 crore due to a tiff between stuntmen from Mumbai and those from the South. Salman Khan has lost around 12 days of shooting for his film Mental.

Producer-director Sohail Khan has hired a leading South Indian fight master for the film.As per the All India Film Employees Confederation (AIFEC), 70% of the fighters have to be local (in this case, from the Hindi film industry) and 30% from the region of the fight master. But fighters from the South refused to shoot, demanding 50% of their men be hired for the action scenes.A leading tabloid quoted a source as saying, “The unit had to return within a week even though it was a 15-day schedule in Kolhapur because the fighters refused to shoot. There was another schedule in Lavasa, which was a continuity sequence from a Dubai shoot, that needed the same fighters. There too, the Film Employees’ Federation of South India (FEFSI) refused to send their stuntmen.”

Dharmesh Tiwari, President of AIFEC, said, “The FEFSI is not ready to follow the rule passed in March 2013, and they are forcing the producer to take 50% of their fighters.”It is learnt that producers and AIFEC are now contemplating on boycotting South Indian fighters.
This disturbing turn of events has forced several filmmakers to replace South Indian action directors with local ones.

Action sequence shoot of Salman khan’s movie stalled in Mental

Salman Khan’s upcoming film Mental,Salman Khan’s upcoming film seems to have hit a hurdle while shooting a crucial fight scene in Lavasa. Apparently, the shoot which was for an action sequence came to a halt post tensions between action artistes from Mumbai and Hyderabad rose over allegations that the production team is biased towards Bollywood performers.

The dispute started when 30 fighters from Hyderabad and Chennai who were called in for an action sequence realised that they were inadequately represented in comparison to their Mumbai peers. While demographically there were only three Southern fighters for every seven from Bollywood, they further found out that they were being paid almost 50 per cent less than their counterparts.

Following these findings, the artists registered a formal complaint with the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) officials in Mumbai, but only to be told that their argument held no water. However, officials from the FWICE rejected their plea which resulted in the artists stalling the shoot.Last heard two senior officials – Shiva and Vijayan – from the Film Employee’s Federation of South India, are in Mumbai to end the impasse.
