Shahid Kapoor has turned down a princely sum of Rs15 crore to dance at a private birthday party in London for steel billionaire Lakshmi Niwas Mittal’s wife Usha.

Says a source, “The Mittals only wanted Shasha as the family is a fan of the Chance Pe Dance star. They offered a whopping amount that Kapoor refused without a moment’s hesitation.”

The offer came through the Morani Brothers Karim and Ali who manage Shasha’s events. They tried their darndest to convince the actor to change his mind.

Says the source, “It’s a known fact that unlike other big stars, Shahid doesn’t dance for private functions. People close to him advised him to treat this as a special case. But he didn’t budge.”

Shahid Kapoor will be seen rocking four different looks in the love story ‘Mausam’, having Sonam Kapoor as his love interest. Their characters are Rohan and Aayat respectively.

Shahid tells to the journalists, “I have four different looks in the film and my first look of an air force pilot is just one of them. It will be wrong if I say that I cannot surpass any of my previous performances, especially Kaminey. All characters I portray in films are different and cannot be compared. There are lot of films I’ve done and some performances that are very close to my heart. Mausam is again a special film for me”

The movie is being directed by his father Pankaj Kapoor.

Currently, every look has logic behind it. It represents the four seasons in a year, moving from Summer to Winter, Autumn to Spring. Mausam is slated to be one of the actor’s most romantic movies so far in his career. Source

A source close to the couple, “Their constant fights and arguments led to the break up. She didn`t want to be in town during his birthday. That`s why she planned her US holiday around the same time. Hence she travelled with friends who didn`t have any connection to the industry. After that she took off for Malaysia to join the Don 2 unit. It was important for her to take a clean break from her guy.”

It has been predicted that 2011 will undoubtedly be the year for sequels in Indian cinema. However, one such film which won’t be a second or third installment is Pankaj Kapur’s Mausam. Starring his son Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, the movie will see Shahid play the role of a pilot which, if rumours are to be believed, has a likeness with Tom Cruise’s character in Top Gun.

With the tag-line “A timeless love story” and recently revealed first looks of a unique nature, the film is said to be one of the most romantic stories of recent times. The posters give a regal feel and fans can be forgiven if reminded of a look which draws similarities to 1942 – A Love Story. The two posters that Shahid tweeted on Valentine’s Day as the “Season of love” are cleverly designed in warm and cold colours, in keeping with the “Mausam” theme. The eternal element is brought in only when looking at both posters at once where it is noticeable that one attempts to encompass a love story with the innocence of yesteryear whereas the other depicts a contemporary pose between the two protagonists.

Mausam is already creating waves of expectations for fans and industry folk with the freshness that comes along with it. The movie will see Shahid in a role very different to any other he has portrayed before. The actor was recently reported to have to fly an F-16 fighter jet for his role and was honoured to do so. A source close to the event revealed, “Shahid couldn’t drink any liquid 4 hours before flight n couldn’t eat anything 16 hours before, except for two chocolate bars before flying”.

The movie will also give birth to a fresh new jodi in Bollywood. Although at first glance, Shahid and Sonam may seem like an unlikely pair, their coming together will be interesting to say the least. It has been said that the two shared a good rapport whilst shooting and their tweets while in filming in Scotland reflect just that. Stories were rife about Sonam’s refusal to kiss the chocolate boy Shahid on-screen but on the whole, it seems the duo will set the screen on fire in a sweet and romantic sense. More

After watching his father, Pankaj Kapoor’s tranquil style of direction during the making of ‘Mausam’, Bollywood chocolate boy Shahid Kapoor has decided to don the director’s cap.

Talking to a daily on Shahid’s newfound passion, a source said, “Shahid was hands-on from the start of the project. And by `start` I don`t mean the day shooting began. ‘Mausam’ was Shahid`s pet project from the time his father wrote it. It was known that Shahid would play the lead, and participate actively in all the behind-the-scenes activities, including casting.”
 
Apparently, the decision to cast Sonam Kapoor was very much Shahid`s own decision as the source continued, “Since it`s a love story, there are only two principal characters in ‘Mausam’. It was very important to cast the right face and personality. Various names including Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha and Deepika Padukone were considered. Both, Pankaj and Shahid zeroed in on Sonam. The role required a Kashmiri girl, and they felt Sonam looked the part. She should have a dreamy look on screen.” the source said.

Buzz has it that Shahid has learnt the art of surrendering himself to the director and this is why he will not cast himself as actor in the film he plans to directs. “While Ranbir Kapoor is willing to cast himself in his directorial debut, Shahid won`t. When he directs a film next year, it will feature another actor,” added the source.

When enquired the actor, Shahid said, “Working with my dad has been a very different experience. He`s a very sorted director. That`s the way I want to be. To surrender to the director and trust him blindly is a great feeling. I want to experience it first-hand. From now on, when I am acting, I`ll surrender to the director`s vision. It takes away from the pressure of being an actor. It was humbling working with dad.” Source

Some time earlier Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor were rumored to pair up as Heer Ranjha for Sajid Nadiadwala but the film has been shelved now. The film was to be directed by Sabir Khan but now the film is no longer happening and the reason behind it is said that Deepika is not keen to do the film.

Shahid is now going to be part of another of Sajid’s film directed by Sabir Khan but Deepika will not be part of the venture. A friend of Nadiadwala revealed that Sabir is working on the script of the new film which is not Heer Ranjha. Why is it then that a section of media came to know about Deepika doing a film from Sabir?

The director earlier reported that the height difference between a hero and a heroine is not much of botheration and since Deepika and Shahid have not been paired together it would be an interesting on-screen coupling to see. But at the moment it seems that the fresh pairing is not happening the audience has to wait for quite a while to see these two together on-screen.

Right now Sabir is penning something new and Deepika is not going to romance or sizzle on-screen with Shahid in it. Deepika’s last film was with Abhishek Bachchan Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and it dunked in the box-office.  Next she will be seen doing a special appearance in the song ‘Dum Maro Dum’ in the flick Dum Maro Dum and her major release will be Desi Boyz, Aarakshan and Housefull 2 in 2011. When Priyanka Chopra has seven co-stars in her forthcoming film 7 Khoon Maaf, the question arises why isn’t Shahid Kapoor, who shares an amazing onscreen chemistry with her and is reportedly her offscreen love, one of them? Well because he refused, revealed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj.

“Shahid refused to do the film. That time he was preparing for the role in his father’s film and for that he needed a particular get up, so he didn’t have time to get a new get up for this film,” Bhardwaj said.

7 Khoon Maaf is based on Ruskin Bond’s short story, Susanna’s Seven Husbands. The seven male leads in the thriller include Naseeruddin Shah as the oldest husband, John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh, Irrfan Khan, Annu Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah’s youngest son Vivaan Shah as the youngest husband and Russian actor Aleksandr Dyachenko.

The director also revealed that Priyanka was his original choice for the role.

“Priyanka was my original choice for the role. She is the finest actor of her generation right now. When I worked with her in Kaminey, I realised how under-utilised she is. She has so much talent in her. As a director I had so much trust on her that I felt that no one else can essay this role as brilliantly as she would do,” said Bhardwaj. More

Shahid Kapoor upset Shah Rukh recently at an award function. The young actor who was co-hosting an award function had not rehearsed for the act and ended up disappointing his senior colleague. King Khan, a show stealer that he has always been, yet again grabbed all the lime light by doing most of the talking. While the ‘Kaminey’ star who bears a striking and an uncanny resemblance with the Badshah of Bollywood chose to go mute.

Talking to a tabloid, a source said, “Shahid did not come the previous night for the grand rehearsal and SRK was the only one to do it. Even on Thursday, the day of the show, Shahid only arrived a couple of hours before the show was to start.”

Apparently, Shahid’s laid back attitude did not go too well with SRK who thought he was being over confident.

“This left the organisers with very little time. SRK, who was present throughout all the rehearsals, was extremely upset with Shahid’s behaviour and thought that he was being overconfident”, the source added. More

Durban is in for some real Bollywood flavour when stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra will groove to their hit numbers on Sunday at an event to celebrate 150 years of India-South Africa friendship.

The concert, which promises to bring together the world of cricket and entertainment on a common platform, will be hosted by actor Anil Kapoor.

This friendship concert is an initiative by AAMEDIA, a South African corporate, and Cricket South Africa. It is being directed and executed by Wizcraft International Entertainment and Cineyug Productions.

“Wizcraft has had a very warm and welcoming relationship with South Africa. The second IIFA Weekend and Awards were held in Sun City in 2001 and we returned for the fourth edition of the same in 2003 in Johannesburg forging a strong relationship between the two countries,” Wizcraft director Sabbas Joseph said in a statement.

“The hospitality extended to us was touching and overwhelming. South Africa holds a big place in our hearts,” he said. More

Bollywood’s celebrated on-again-off-again couple, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, is reportedly back together, and what’s more, they are set to ring in the New Year together at an undisclosed location in Chandigarh.

Shahid, who has been shooting for his father’s film Mausam near Chandigarh, will be taking the weekend off to spend time with Priyanka.

Although Priyanka’s spokesperson vehemently denied this, our source insists that the couple is back together. Says he, “Shahid and Priyanka are back together. The couple recently reunited when Karan Johar SMSed them to be a guest couple on his chat show Koffee With Karan.

That’s when they met and sorted out their misunderstandings and problems. After they went on the show as a couple, they realised that they were in fact victims of misunderstandings created by other people.

Now that they are back together, they have decided that they need to spend more time with each other. Subsequently, Priyanka, who declined all New Year eve live performances, decided that she would join Shahid in Chandigarh.” More
