AKKI OPTS OUT & SONU GETS IN

There were that Akshay Kumar has been approached to dub for the lead character in the Hindi version of a forthcoming Hollywood flick, based on Greek mythology. But the actor has opted and the reason behind it is still not known.
But, now the opportunity has gone to Sonu Sood.
Sonu confirmed the news and said, “Yes, I will be dubbing for a Hollywood film for the first time! When you talk about ‘Hercules’, your voice needs to match the physique of the actor you see onscreen (Kellan Lutz). I guess they chose me because I too sport a six pack quite like Kellan Lutz! Apart from undergoing the regular voice exercises, I’ll try to give it my best shot.”
The actor revealed that he found most dubbed Hollywood films funny.
“I remember, as a student, I found the dubbed versions funny. That shouldn’t be the case,” he said.
When asked if he knows that Akshay was first approached for the same, the 40 year old actor said, “I heard about it. I have done two films with Akshay. Whether he dubs or I do, as long as Punjabi boys do it, its fine.”

Shootout At Wadala Makes A Decent Box Office Start

With a bevy of actors, Sanjay Gupta’s crime drama Shootout at Wadala has managed to nail the art of audience and reportedly earned total 27 crore in just three days after release. It was released on May 3 across the country.

It is strongest in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, where the story of Manya Surve found resonance. It also managed to collect decent numbers in parts of India where mafia tales are a big draw.

The collections that was recorded at 10.10 crores on it opening day (Friday) now rests at an approximate of 4.50 crores on Monday (Day 4). The film’s weekend collections were excellent despite having adult content, hurling abuses and lewd language at places!

It was made for a cost of around 32 crore with a print and advertising (P&A) budget of around 15 crore, and with three days of release it has crossed one-fourth to its making. It recovered approximately 27cr over the weekend. The producers sent out a release saying, SAW collected 30.7cr from the domestic box office in the first three days.

According to sources from the production side it is informed that the satellite rights were picked up for around 22 cr because this film was sold as a package deal along with Ek Thi Daayan and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again; all three films are produced by Balaji.

Of course, it collected something to the tune of 4 cr on the opening weekend. But the real star is Aashiqui 2 that is 2013′s first certified super hit with a collection of around 43 cr in its 10-day run.

Shootout At Wadala gets ‘A’ certificate

The Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared crime thriller Shootout At Wadala with an A-certificate, with no visual cuts. However, some of dialogues spoken by John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee and Tusshar Kapoor have been asked to be cleaned up.Director Sanjay Gupta is not complaining. Says a source, “Though Gupta managed to convince the members of the Censor Board to not tamper with the visuals including the substantial violence, when it came to some of the dialogues the Censor Board was unrelenting and insisted that the words be changed.”

Apparently, Sanjay Gupta was aware of the hard hitting content and the trouble it may cause with the censors. According to sources, the filmmaker voluntarily removed a whole sequence where debutant Siddhant Kapoor discussed the genesis and relevance of the Hindi expletive ‘bhen***d’ with his pals.

The censorial axe also fell on a sequence where a cop tells John that it is not his fault that John has turned out the way he has but his mother’s fault. The CBFC has ordered that the reference to the mother be removed. In another sequence, Tusshar Kapoor exchanges girl talk with his pal and there’s a reference to the Taj Mahal and Shah Jehan which the CBFC has asked to be removed. Also, since no historical or political figure is allowed to be mentioned, the CBFC has asked Gupta to remove a reference made to Subhash Chandra Bose by Manoj Bajpayee.”

“I think the censor board has been reasonable with my film. We expected an ‘A‘ certificate and got that. Yeah, they did object to some dialogues. My actors are busy re-dubbing the dialogues that the CBFC wanted changed,” said Gupta. An adaptation of Hussain Zaidi’s Dongri to Dubai, the film is about a real incident. It revolves around Mumbai police’s first official encounter, in which gangster Manya Surve was shot down.

As for Sunny Leone‘s controversial and hugely popular item song ‘Laila Teri Le Legi‘, the CBFC has asked Gupta to change ‘Le legi’ to ‘Loot Legi’ in certain portions. Says the source, “The CBFC has allowed the words Le Le Legi to remain partially. But they requested Gupta to reduce the number of times the phrase was used. So instead of Le Legi all through audiences will hear Sunny gyrate to ‘Laila Loot Legi’ halfway through the song.”

Sunny Leone to do an item number

Buzz is that, besides Priyanka Chopra, there’s also Sunny Leone who will be doing another song in Shootout At Wadala, which will be her first item number in Bollywood. Sunny will be donning an absolute desi avatar with skimpy choli and short ghagra.Dressed in a full-on desi avatar, Sunny sports ghagra choli with loads of accessories. Actors Tusshar Kapoor and John Abraham are seen dancing alongside her in their character’s get-up. Sunny’s looks reminds us of Aishwarya Rai in the Kajrare track.

Just like Aish, Sunny too wears a jhummar that dangles on one side of the head. The song will be choreographed by the ace Ahmed Khan, who said that Sunny is an obedient student. The Canadian adult film star seems to have lost a few kilos for her item song. The sexy track is choreographed by Ahmed Khan. Khan seems to be very impressed with Sunny’s hard work, dedication and obedience. He also says, Sunny’s jhatka-matka are going to be very interesting.

Priyanka Chopra who is all set to do a special number in Sanjay Gupta’s forthcoming film Shootout At Wadala. The song, that’s titled Babli Badmaash Hai is not just any other song, for the reason that Priyanka has made it very clear that she would not dance to lyrics with double meanings or make any suggestive moves. Buzz is that she said song will have lots of glamour, but no vulgarity. The song is touted to be the highlight of the film.

Sanjay Gupta said that the song is a tribute to his favourites – late Feroz Khan and late RD Burman. He said that he always wanted to work with them and this song is an ode to them.

Shootout At Wadala which is coproduced by Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor also features Kangna Ranaut, Anil Kapoor and Sonu Sood. The film is slated for release this May.

Maximum Movie Review

Cast: Sonu Sood, Naseeruddin Shah, Neha Dhupia, Vinay Pathak, Amit Sadh

Directed by Kabeer Kaushik

Rating: *

Music Director: Amjad Nadeem

Contrary to popular belief, this film isn’t about a nighty-clad mother (maxi-mum). It is about Aamchi Mumbai- the maximum city. But director Kabeer Kaushik’s film takes minimum interest in Suketu Mehta’s interpretation of the city and if anything, only curdles it into a milkshake of clichés. So Mumbai isn’t about the ‘Mum-bhais’ anymore. It’s about trigger-happy encounter cops, dance bars which can’t be distinguished from item song shoots and a lot of people lying mum in a pool of their own blood; pretty much like the theatre screening this film.

Pratap Pandit (Sonu Sood) is an encounter cop of few words and many bullets. A family man by every right, he is sorely disappointed when his wife- Supriya (Neha Dhupia) succumbs to a bullet later in the film. That said, unlike every self-respecting family man, he is a regular at dance bars and has his way with item girls who want police protection. So he’s a good cop, full-time fop and a mediocre pop. Anyway, his popularity leads to professional jealousy among ATS (Anti-terrorist Squad) cop Arun Inamdar (Naseeruddin Shah), his boss and chelas. This is soon followed by some confusion about how the Crime branch is trying to hog all the limelight from the ATS and how the two departments do pretty much the same thing (and they don’t mean making merry with public funds). But the commissioner wants them to go on doing what they do best, so Inamdar and Pandit go on a shooting spree, killing gangsters, informers, random people, extras on the set, some assistant directors, the script-writer (oh no! he escaped since he never showed up).

The story of Maximum takes you back to the year 2003 in Mumbai where the local police had satrted a war against the dominating underworld. The command has been given in the hands of two potential and brave police officers Pratap Pandit (Sonu Sood) and Arun Inaamdar (Naseeruddin Shah) to eradicate crime from the city. The story revolves around these two police officers, their way of handling the task and their struggle for ‘maximum’ power. Both the officers show contradictory characters with Pandit (Sonu Sood) being ambitious and Inaamdar (Naseeruddind) conniving and silent. Both the officers engage in their self-defeating turf war which leads to a dramatic conflict between the both. The climax of the movie is a bit unpredictable.

Pandit’s wife (Neha Dhupa) is killed by his rivals in the climax.
The film does not prove worth due to lack of a proper plot and storyline that fails to keep the interest of the audiences going. Talking about the performances, Naseeruddin Shah as an encounter specialist is as usual the element of the movie justifying his character to the best while Sonu Sood has also made his appearance noted with less but intense dialogue delivery and too many bullets speaking for him. Neha Dhupia, who is playing Pandit’s wife in the movie, looks pretty in the traditional outfits as a housewife. Vinay Pathak plays Tiwari, an Uttar-Bharatiya neta, looks has justified his role as a politician. Amit Sadh as a reporter is quite impressive in his role.

Sonu Sood Speaks On ‘Shootout At Wadala’

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood is excited to essay underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in “Shootout At Wadala”, and he is doing his bit to carry off the role perfectly.

“I am super excited to play Dawood Ibrahim. My homework is on. I am reading about him and doing research on him. I am all set to play the role,” Sonu told.

Sonu says “Shootout At Wadala”, based on the 1982 shootout in which criminal Manya Surve was killed, is all about gangsters.

“It is a film based on gangsters. It’s about the rise of Dawood. It’s more of an action drama,” he said.

While the shooting of the film has already started, Sonu will join the crew next week.

“I will start the shooting from April 24. We will be shooting at locations like Nariman Point and Mahim (in Mumbai),” the 38-year-old said. More

Sonu Sood’s Next Is With Tabu

This is something exciting. After flaunting his six-pack abs in Dabangg, Sonu Sood dons a new look which seems to be modelled on the styles popularised in the 1950s and 1960s, for the action-thriller Maximum.

Sonu who played a cop in Bbuddah…Hoga Terra Baap, will once again be seen as a police officer in director Kabir Kaushik’s underworld drama, which also stars Tabu and Naseeruddin Shah.

The actor posted a picture revealing his new look on social networking site Twitter. The picture shows him sporting a mustache and a side parting with neatly combed hair. This look is indeed different from the way he actually looks. Source

Sonu Sood Insults Big B In Bbuddah…Hoga Terra Baap

Everyone is aware that Mr. Bachchan is returning as an angry man, albeit a lot older, in BBUDDAH-HOGA TERA BAAP. What is not known though is that the film also recreates a scene from ZANJEER.

“Just like Pran was thrown out by Bachchan in ZANJEER, Sonu Sood (who plays a cop) turns the table around by doing the same for Bachchan here. What remains constant though is the elan and dignity with which the senior actors were treated then as well as today,” informs a source. More

Cheddi Singh Gifts A Mobile Phone To Chulbul Pandey

At the success party of Dabangg, Salman Khan graciously removed his Being Human watch and gave it to Sonu Sood. Sallu was impressed with Sonu’s performance and wanted to give him a gift. Now Sonu has returned the favour by gifting Salman a high-end Vertu mobile costing around Rs 4 lakh. A source reveals, “Sonu wanted to gift Salman something for a long time. He didn’t know what to buy him till some one suggested a mobile phone.

Sonu thought of getting him the best in phones and hence got him a Vertu. The phone is one of the high end models of the brand and Salman was extremely touched when he got the gift.”

Initially, Salman refused to accept it, but Sonu insisted that he had to. The source adds, “Salman loves to give gifts. He’s always seen giving away watches to his friends. But he isn’t that forthcoming while accepting gifts. He felt Sonu’s phone was really expensive and he kept trying to convince him to keep it himself. However, Salman finally accepted it.” Sonu was hesitant to elaborate on the gift.

“It’s quite personal and I wouldn’t like to talk about it.” Sood’s character (Cheddi Singh) in Dabangg got such a great response that Arbaaz has decided to retain him in the sequel. Source

Sonu Sood Was The First Choice For Salman’s Role In ‘Dabangg’

Known for doing intense roles, actor Sonu Sood plays a young politician in upcoming film ‘Dabangg’. But he reveals that he was actually supposed to play the lead role, now being essayed by Salman Khan.

‘The film was brought to me before Salman came on board. Initially I was supposed to do Salman’s role of a cop… but when he decided to be a part of the film, I was offered the role of the youth politician that I’m now playing,’ Sonu told IANS in an interview.

The actor, whose acting skills came to the fore in films like ‘Yuva’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, says he is not afraid of being overshadowed by the superstar.

‘I’m not scared that I’ll get overshadowed in the film because of the presence of Salman. I completely trust Abhinav Kashyap, the director, who was Mani Ratnam’s assistant director during ‘Yuva’.

‘I know him since those days. Also, the character I’m playing is quite strong; so being sidelined was something that never bothered me,’ said Sonu, whose character in the film is named Cheddi Singh. More

Salman Khan’s Yet Another Generosity

First while shooting the tricky bare-bodied climactic combat scene in Wai for Dabangg, Salman personally supervised his screen-adversary Sonu Sood’s torso tanning. And now when Sonu Sood fractured his nose while shooting, Salman helped him.

It happened so, Salman and his co-star in Dabangg, Sonu Sood were shooting a fight scene that is a part of the climax. During the practice, one of the fighters jumped and his knee happened to hit Sonu’s nose real hard. The pain was quite severe and the X-ray revealed a fracture in Sonu’s nose.

Later on Sonu insisted continuing the shooting, but seeing Sonu in pain, Salman called for pack-up and asked Sonu to rest. Source
