Bollywood star and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has given birth to a baby girl, her husband Abhishek announced on Wednesday.

“IT’S A GIRL!,” Abhishek, also a top actor, wrote on his Twitter account, @juniorbachchan, without giving any further details.

Bachchan’s father, Bollywood legend Amitabh, tweeted his joy at the new arrival: “A dada ji (a grandfather)…Ecstatic!”, calling his new granddaughter “the cutest baby girl”.

The baby was born at the private Seven Hills Hospital in the western Mumbai suburb of Andheri on Wednesday morning, hospital officials told. Source

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan checked in to the Seven Hills Hospital for delivery at around 11.30 pm on Monday night.

She was admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri late last night, a spokesperson of the Bachchan family told the Press Trust of India.

However, it is not known yet when she is expected to deliver the baby.

Aishwarya’s father-in-law and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan tweeted a few hours ago: “A day of expectation .. but another day ! The Lord has his ways and they are most special .. we wait !!” Source

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai is expected to give birth anytime now, can’t wait to see the new arrival and says he is enjoying the hustle bustle in the house.

This is in regard to the article published by an acknowledged daily news paper dated 2nd November 2011 titled ‘Bachchan’s pick Marol hospital for New B’. Let me remind you that this is the same publication who actually had the gaul of printing an article earlier titled ‘Pregnant Pause’ which stated that Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was incapable of conceiving due to some ailment and now they have turned around and yet again insinuated that there is a possibility that she has pre-decided the date of her delivery!!

Point 1 from the article: Says source, “There is a possibility of Aishwarya going in for a C Section delivery 11.11.11.”

Spokesperson’s Quote, “Yet again ridiculously insinuating such an esteemed and respected family would actually turn nature’s course for such blind sensationalized beliefs. There is a limit to time and again attributing such regressive remarks like marrying her off to a tree or actually planning delivering her baby just for the sake of a sensational journalism. How can journalism allow for such irresponsible reporting with regards to such intimate and personal decisions in a ladies life. As reported yesterday, Aishwarya Rai turned 38 and her fans and well-wishers posted congratulatory messages on Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan’s Twitter accounts and the father-son duo has thanked everyone on her behalf.

‘First off…let me thank all of you that have wished Aishwarya for her birthday…I shall pass on your greetings to her…gratitude,’ Big B posted on Twitter.

And Abhishek posted: ‘Thank you all for the wonderful and thoughtful wishes for Aishwarya. Will read them all out to her.’
