2 States is a love story of a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a Tamil girl and the film revolves around the cultural clash they and their families go through.

We sure appreciated Alia Bhatt’s debut act in Student of the Year, although the role seemed easy and almost tailormade for her, given that she was playing a girl her own age and in similar circumstances. She says she would love to be a part of the Murder or Raaz franchise in future. “In these thrillers and scary movies, it is very difficult to portray (the role), to always look scared… and you know, (be) in that tense zone. So, I would love to do a film (like that). If Murder 4 or Raaz 4 happen, I would love to do it,” said the 19-year-old at a special screening of Murder 3.

Alia says she is proud of her cousin Vishesh, who has made his debut as a director with Murder 3, which released on Feb 15. “I saw it with the audience and I loved it. I think the ‘Murder’ franchise has gone a step ahead with this film. I feel very proud as a sister. Vishesh has taken such a beautiful story and made it so interesting and gripping,” Alia said.

He said, ‘I’ll go to the theatre and watch it as an audience’. Initially, I was upset but then I thought it’s good as he wouldn’t be biased. As heard, she is soon to feature in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway where she will be paired opposite Randeep Hooda. Alia has big dreams and acting in films is something that ruled her heart since long. When asked as to what got her into the field, she said, “Since the time I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a star. As a child, I enjoyed watching Karishma Kapoor and Govinda dancing on the streets in films. And I’d wonder, ‘How are they dancing here? Who gave them permission? How did they change their clothes so quickly?’ Later, I realized there’s much more to it. I was captivated by the idea of being an actress”.

Alia Bhatt recently returned from a holiday in London. “It was a very long vacation and it turned out to be just the way I wanted it. My sister was with me and we both freaked out.” Apparently, she shopped till she dropped. “I shopped for loads of clothes,” she says.

However, once the girl got free from her commitment for the film and its release took place, she flown off to London with her sister Shaheen Bhatt for a holiday. It was quite a long holiday for the 19-year-old as she stayed in London almost for a month and she is back only now.

Now, it’s back to the grind with packed schedules and commitments. “I love being this busy body,” she smiles.

Filmmaker Karan Johar’s ‘Student of The Year’ is set hit the theatres Oct 19 this year.

Co-produced by Johar’s Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, the film will launch three new faces in the B-town – Alia, who is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt, David Dhawan’s son Varun, and model-turned-actor Siddharth Malhotra – in prominent roles.

It is the first time that Johar is working with an all-new cast and is said to be excited about working with the new bunch of actors, because it reminds him of his initial days in the industry.

‘Karan’s been shooting in Bangkok for the past several weeks now and he’s expected to return sometime in the first week of May. He’s extremely excited to work with a bunch of newcomers and had been talking about their young energetic vibe, reminding him of his own days as a newcomer,’ a source said.
