Amrita Arora is back and glowing after a three-week honeymoon trip to Europe. The couple, who travelled all over Barcelona, Paris, Italy, Capri, Venice, Florence and London, had initially planned to go to Mexico but had to ditch their plans due to the civil strife there. But it would seem Malaika’s lil’ sis didn’t mind the change of plans as she had a blast.
The actress reveals that they decided against the more comfortable mode of transport – flying – and opted to travel by car, boat, the Euro Rail and even a scooter! The only bump on their road to paradise was the unexpected change of weather since the sudden cold weather left them totally unprepared. The blissful bride’s hubby Shakeel Ladhak planned the entire trip single-handedly, and threw in little surprises like a stay at the Luna Bagliani, an old castle in Venice. And the young couple made it a point to include some cultural and musical discoveries in their trip, and of course they threw their diet out of the window with their gourmet indulgences. Just married couple Amrita Arora and Shakeel Ladhak had to cancel their honeymoon trip to Mexico due to excessive drug violence in the country. Mexico was the choice of Amrita but unfortunately she had to drop her plan on looking at the unsafe scenario of the country. Western beauty and spicy cuisine fascinated Amrita to choose Mexico. A source close to Amrita says, “Amu and Shakeel had planned a 15-day honeymoon. They were to leave on March 14, go to New York and head to Mexico from there.
However, due to escalating drug violence in the last week, their plans stand cancelled. Amrita has been to most European cities, so she wanted to either go to Mexico or Hawaii places she’s never been to before.”
Their families have been debarring them from going to Mexico. “Finally yesterday, both Shakeel and Amu decided they would fly to New York and then go to Hawaii or some other place rather than risk their lives going to Mexico.” Source

Says a source, “Amrita and Shakeel are planning to get married by March 2009. The two families have already met and are currently sorting out the dates. It will be either March 3 or 6 and will be held at a luxurious resort in Goa. It’s been Amrita’s dream to have a beautiful church wedding in Goa. The couple has been going around for more than six months with Shakeel even accompanying Amrita to Los Angeles in August when she was shooting for Kambakht Ishq.”
Amrita is talking openly about her marriage in parties and events. But when contacted, she rubbishes the marriage rumor. She said, “Who said this? It’s not true. I am not getting married in March next year. Everyone was joking at a party and forcing Shakeel and me to commit a marriage date, so I told them that there are no marriage plans as of now.” Source
