The wonder girl Amrita Rao, a proud vegetarian, has shot for a new pro-vegetarian advertisement for animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India.

The 30-year-old looks casual in a pair of shorts and a clingy T-shirt that reads ‘Powered by Tofu’ in the ad, through which she proclaims: “I Am Amrita Rao, and I Am a Vegetarian”.

“I call being vegetarian the Wow Rao diet. Wow because I know that being vegetarian is the best thing I can do for myself, the animals and the environment,” Amrita said in a press statement.

With the success of Life Partner, the new pairing of Govinda and Amrita Rao seems to have clicked with the audiences. After their hit pairing in Partner, Katrina Kaif was approached for an extended cameo opposite Govinda in Life Partner, being produced by Abbas-Mustan.

As Katrina cited her inability to do the film as she was headed to London, the makers have roped in Amrita Rao opposite ChiChi, who plays a divorce lawyer in Rumi Jaffery’s second directorial venture.

The other couples in the film are Fardeen Khan-Genelia D’Souza and Tusshar Kapoor-Prachi Desai.

Actress Amrita Rao cast her vote for the first time this election and says she is proud of the voting ink mark on her finger. So excited was she by the prospect of voting that she reached the polling booth even before the gates had opened.

“At 7 am I was the first voter at the booth in the municipal school in Mahim. I feel so proud of being able to vote for the first time. I keep looking at the black mark on my finger proudly. For years I envied that tell-tale mark on my parents’ finger,” said Amrita.

Amrita Rao – the Vivaah girl was caught with an interview. Her latest film Welcome To Sajjanpur is about to release this Friday.

After a sensitive cameo act in Shaurya, you are back doing a light-hearted film like Welcome to Sajjanpur… How does it feel?
I am super duper excited (laughs). Being a part of a Shyam Benegal movie was actually a high point for me when I first read the script. He is somebody who is liked and revered by everyone in my community. Then of course I happened to see Zubeidaa when I was studying and that is one film that I still count as one of my favorite films. So when Shyamji called me for this role, I didn’t ask him any questions and I just said yes to the film. Because, I so wanted to be on board under his direction.

Did you ever ask him why did he think of you for this role?
I did ask him and he said that he had seen me in Vivah and felt that I most appropriately suited the role in terms of look and age and all that he was looking for. So yes…I got lucky (laughs). Full News

Recently a Mumbai tabloid reported that she was spotted with Shahid Kapur and his family watching a film at a suburban multiplex.
