Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has posed as a snake to raise her voice against animal skin trade in an ad for animal rights organisation People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The caption of the ad reads: “Face It: Exotic Skins Kill. Wild Animals Belong in the Wild, Not in Your Wardrobe.”
Dia said: “Skinning animals alive or beating them to death for a pair of boots or a purse cannot be justified.”
“By choosing widely available fake snake and mock croc, you can pay tribute to these animals’ beauty without stealing their skins and killing them,” she added. More

“Not this year as it is already a packed year and I’ll be busy attending the weddings,” said Diya who was here Monday to attend the sangeet ceremony of Riteish-Genelia, who are getting married Friday.

I was surprised when just a few days before the release of ‘Rascals’ there were predictions made on the lines of ‘This Ajay Devgn-Sanjay Dutt starrer will take one of the top openings of the year’. Reason being, and as predicted in this very column last week, the film was reasonably awaited amongst the audience as well as trade circles but never expected to embark on a record breaking start by any means. Yes, it was always meant to be a safe film but for those claiming it to be a superhit or a blockbuster in the making were sadly mistaken as this David Dhawan film was never pitched as a mega crore money spinner. Actress Dia Mirza might not be an active social worker, but she is voicing her opinions on various causes. She is associated with humanitarian projects and for all this the former beauty queen gives credit to Shabana Azmi, her role model.
“She is my role model not because she is an activist, but because she was the one who once told me to be a citizen of the country first and then a daughter and a mother. Hence, this is what I am following and have been trying my level best to give something back to society,” Dia, who played Shabana’s daughter in Tehzeeb, said in an interview.
“If my celebrity status helps in generating attention to the cause, then why not? If I feel for the cause, I do try to support it,” added the 29-year-old, who was here for The Body Shop in India event. She has been named its brand ambassador.
In the past, she has worked extensively with the government of Andhra Pradesh to spread HIV awareness and prevent female foeticide. She is also involved with the Cancer Patients Aid Association and the Spastics Society of India.

Dia Mirza is biting her nails for being supplied with contaminated water in her building and is keeping fingers crossed that the press might help in bringing appropriate action for the same.
“Media showed up at the building to do a story on water contamination. For once it was my neighbours facing the camera and not me… If this media attention results in action, I will be very happy! It is really scary the kind of water we are being supplied with (sic),” she tweeted. Source
Our sources reveal that things reportedly got too hot for Dia Mirza in Mumbai what with everyone suggesting that Arshad Warsi and she are more that ‘good friends’; and Arshad’s wife Maria walked out on him.
To beat the summer temperatures (and otherwise) Dia has taken a vacation to the US and is now communicating with her fans(?) through micro-blogging. What is funny is that since the actress has nothing to talk about (no films darling) so she is actually talking about the weather.
She said, “I did a thing, where I was up at, like, 5.30 in the morning, or so and I’m in New York, I looked out the window, and go, ‘Great day in NYC, How is it where you are?’ I got, like, 80, 90, 100 responses, going. ‘I’m in Spain, and it’s such-andsuch weather’, or ‘I’m in Argentina…’. Now I’ve got this global weather check happening here.” Source
The beautiful Dia Mirza denied a report that the ex-beauty queen and actress would tie the knot with Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar. The actress said that the news, first carried by Pakistan channel Geo TV, is utter rubbish and baseless. In an exclusive chat with Spicezee, she said, “The news of my wedding with Shoaib Akhtar is absolutely rubbish. It’s a figment of imagination.”
Pakistani channel, Geo TV band said – “My wedding with Shoaib Akhtar would be even better than Sania`s: Dia Mirza”.
Dia requested the media to make it known that she had nothing to do with Shoaib Akhtar and she doesn’t even know him. When asked about her marriage plans, the actress said, “I would like to get married and everybody will know it. As of now, I am not getting married to anyone.”
It seems that after Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza’s marriage with Shoaib Malik, gossipmongers are working overtime to spread rumours of love affairs between Indian damsels and Pakistani cricketers. Perhaps, India-Pakistan bonding is going a little overboard. Source
Gorgeous Dia Mirza looked splendid in a golden dress during the promotional spree for her film ‘Hum Tum Aur Ghost’. The actress, who is playing the role of a high profile fashion editor, seemed hopeful about the film, which promises to be a comedy with an emotional angle to it. The lady believes that her life after winning the Miss India second runner-up crown in 2000 has been a roller-coaster ride and she has a long way to go.
In an exclusive chat with Shivangi Singh and Tanu Talwar of Spicezee.com, the actress revealed her happy-go-lucky side and also gave the meaty byte about kidnapping Ranbir Kapoor.
Q: Please tell us about your character in ‘Hum Tum Aur Ghost’?
Dia: My character in the film is very special. I am playing a high profile fashion editor named ‘Gehna’. She is a very practical woman and she is madly in love with Armaan – that’s the character played by Arshaad Warsi in the film. ‘Gehna’ has all the shades of a woman – she is jealous, naughty, adorable and giving. She is blindly in love and ready to make compromises for her lover. More
If sources are to be believed, Dia Mirza ditched her forthcoming film Acid Factory’s producer Sanjay Gupta after giving false assurances.
On Saturday, Dia refused to turn up at an event to showcase Sanjay Gupta’s Acid Factory despite having promised him that she’d walk the ramp for their film. Apparently, the actress who is loyally bound to designers Shantanu-Nikhil turned down the event stating that she wouldn’t walk for fashion designer Samant Chauhan.
Sources reveal that Dia ditched Sanjay Gupta minutes before she was scheduled to walk the ramp. Although Dia went all the way to Delhi, she simply refused to turn up at the venue leaving Gupta in a lurch. For an instant, the crew felt that Dia was playing a prank on him. However, with only a few minutes left to walk the ramp, Gautam Kohli, marketing in-charge for Sanjay Gupta, called up Dia only to get a rude shock. Dia refused to relent despite Kohli trying desperately to make her see reason. But all his attempts to make her understand failed miserably. And due to the chaos at the back stage, the panic stricken designer Samant approached Gupta requesting if he could take up Dia’s place. Source
