The last few years have seen a noteworthy ascent in his acting and choice of roles. With his charismatic delivery in his latest, Ek Thi Daayan, Hashmi proves he has truly arrived. Here’s looking at 10 of his best performances.
The Bollywood horror movie directed by Kannan Iyer features Konkona Sen Sharma, Huma Qureshi and Kalki Koechlin as the leading ladies and was released on Friday. Putting beside the Ek Thi Daayan movie review, Emraan feels that he will be happy if audiences appreciate the performances of the ladies too.

It’s not just the serial kisser image that is synonymous to Emraan Hashmi, but the actor has also been the face of horror series in Bollywood recently. After being a part of the ‘Raaz‘ series, Emraan is set to return to the silver screen with yet another horror film ‘Ek Thi Daayan‘.Ek Thi Daayan, is for all the horror fans.
Emraan Hashmi is back on screen with another horror film and accompanying him this time are three beautiful ladies – Huma Qureshi, Kalki Koechlin and Konkona Sen Sharma.Directed by Kannan Iyer, the film deals with witches, witchcraft and are inspired by folklores. “It was great shooting a film with an interesting script. I always had a fascination for supernatural films,” Emraan said in an interview and added that with the film being placed in a “relatable world, with folklore of a witch being played out, is interesting”.”Ek Thi Daayan deals with daayans (witches) which has not been explored much in Indian cinema. It is a different interpretation of horror.
The film is more psychological and at the same time there are a couple of jump-out-of-seat moments. It does not have the cliches of the horror films, in fact it is tasteful horror,” said Emraan during an interview.Taking inspiration from the folklores, ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ brings back the popular notion of witches to the silver screen but at the same time it re-interprets the image of a ‘daayan’.”The folklores always talked about the daayans as old ladies with big bags. However, with ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ we have reinterpreted the image of a ‘daayan’ in film”, adds producer Vishal Bhardwaj.Let’s see whether the film spooks the audience or leaves them disappointed.

While most Bollywood hotties would love to have dolls modelled on them in their gorgeous best, actresses Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi have done just the opposite. The three actresses, who will be seen in an upcoming supernatural thriller that also stars Emraan Hashmi – have lent their faces to dolls that have been modelled to look like daayans.According to insiders, the dolls will be dressed in black robes and will have their feet pointing backwards.
“Initially, when the filmmakers (producers Vishal Bhardwaj, Ekta Kapoor and director Kannan Iyer) came up with the idea of having these evil-looking dolls that would resonate with the theme of their film Ek Thi Daayan, there was no plan to make them look like either of the three actresses. In fact, when the team bounced these ideas to the cast, they were a bit apprehensive about how it will be received and joked that it would be nice to have the faces of their leads for the dolls. But then Konkona, Kalki and Huma sportingly agreed and the idea to make dolls replicating them came about,” shares the insider.
Reportedly, talks are underway between the production house and a leading brand of toy manufacturers to roll out these daayan dolls that will be part of the film’s merchandise. “It will be a unique marketing move, because so far we’ve only had doll replicas of super-heroes here, apart from Katrina, who has a doll modelled on her looks,” adds the insider.

It can be called a co-incidence of sorts that most of the films that have done well at the ticket window this year star heroines whose names start with the initial K.
Starting with the most experienced Kajol who started the year on a high with the hit MY NAME IS KHAN, where she was paired with her favourite co-star Shah Rukh Khan. She did disappoint a bit with her second and third release, WE ARE FAMILY and TOONPUR KA SUPERRHERO, but her super sensitive act as Mandira in MNIK saved the day for Kajol and her fans.
Then comes the most successful and certainly the numero-uno heroine of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif, who has a super hit in form of RAAJNEETI and her latest release TEES MAAR KHAN too has embarked upon a historic start netting almost 40 crore during the first weekend itself, second only to the biggest DABANGG.
If Katrina is there can Kareena be left far behind? Well, not at all. Kareena Kapoor may have had a bad year with her moth ridden MILENGE MILENGE and WE ARE FAMILY failing at the turnstile but she did recover with the blockbuster GOLMAAL 3 thus ending the year on a high note. More

After seeing the craze of their film, the makers of Wake Up Sid, Dharma Productions felt their lead actress Konkona Sen Sharma wasn’t looking her best. They conveyed this to Konkona in polite words and requested her for a re-shoot of all these portions. This would have lead to additional production costs but they were game for it. But then Koko banged her furious foot down declaring, “This is what I am and this is what you shall get!”
Director Ayaan Mukherjee (Rani’s cousin) had no option but to move on to the next schedule. Unit insiders claim, Konkona was signed on for the project as the script demanded an ordinary looking girl who was a perfect contrast to the film’s lead actor Ranbir Kapoor. She thought that watching the play before the film’s shooting could affect her spontaneity.” Konkana playing a lesbian was kept under wraps by the filmmakers. Our source revealed, “It was meant to surprise the audience.
But the focus of the film is not Konkana’s sexuality, it is a humourous film about six ambitious Indians who will stop at nothing to win a handshake with President Bush. It is a mockumentary!”
When we asked Konkona if she was playing a lesbian in The President is Coming, she quipped, “It won’t be fair to reveal anything so soon, but after Dostana, do you think only boys should have all the fun?” The film also stars Shernaz Patel and Ira Dubey. Source
