I am the no-nonsense Delhi girl: Mallika Sherawat

Mallika, who has been tagged a sex symbol after films like Khwahish and Murder and has dabbled in some Hollywood films, admits she can’t change the mage but would like to show audiences the serious actor as well. She is pinning her hopes on her role as the no-nonsense girl in Kismat Love Paisa Dilli (KLPD) to achieve that.

“It’s not in my hands to change (people’s perception). It’s really not. But I would definitely like to add a few more things to the perception (of the people),” Mallika told IANS in an interview. In director Sanjay Khanduri’s Kismat Love Paisa Dilli, which releases Friday, she will be seen romancing Vivek Oberoi.”This film is a thriller and has a great north Indian culture in it. After a long time, I am playing the-girl-next-door. Usually the parts that come to me are overtly glamorous. This is a realistic, no nonsense Delhi girl,” she said.”I am hoping to show my actor side more. My fans saw a glimpse of that in Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Ugly Aur Pagli,” she said.

Expressing confidence in Khanduri’s craft, Mallika added: “He is a maestro as a director. He knows his craft very well. He knows exactly what he wants.”
The girl from Rohtak who has been in the US for the last several years says she didn’t find any difficulty in relating to the role.Mallika made her debut in the Hindi film industry with Jeena Sirf Merre Liye but got fame with Khwahish for the 17 kissing scenes with co-star Himanshu Malik. She locked lips with Emraan Hashmi in Murder as well.
She got some appreciation for her acting skills in romantic comedy Pyaar Ke Side Effects. The actress believes that she has grown in the the last 10 years and says there have been “many ups and downs”.”Earlier, when I used to have a hit, I used to be ecstatic. And I would go into depression when I would have a flop; I used to go into depression. But you can’t take all this too personally,” she said.

“Experience changed me. As you grow older and do more films, you don’t take these things that seriously. For me, Hollywood also opened up. So I realised it’s all a part of the game; you just need to play it well. You can’t take things personally,” she said.
Any regrets?
“I have no regrets. Where is the time for regrets,” she said.

The Myth and Politics of Love are some of the international projects she has worked in. But Bollywood will remain a priority.

“Bollywood can never take a back seat. The kind of warmth and love that is here doesn’t exist anywhere,” she said.

Talking about the response to Hindi films abroad, she said: “They are curious about Bollywood. The language is a big barrier. They don’t understand Hindi. But they love the format, specially the songs and the colours which are used in the songs.”She credits Danny Boyle for opening the gates of Hollywood wider for Indian actors.

“After Slumdog Millionaire, doors are opening and things are changing. People (there) are realising that there is a life outside of America,” she said.

Directed by Ankush Bhatt, of BHINDI BAZAAR INC. fame, MUMBAI MIRROR has music by Anand Raj Anand. “Mallika and Sachiin make a very unique and fresh pair. Mallika is the apple of the teenage eyes, and her chemistry with daredevil Sachiin is sure to create a hullabaloo,” says the director.

Saroj Khan Speaks On The Dance Of Madhuri, Sonam & Mallika

Dance is an important element of Hindi cinema. Some actors have rhythm in their step while others have to work really hard to get it right.

Choreographer Saroj Khan has been making actors dance to her tune for the last 50 years, and has choreographed the best and worst dancers of the industry. For instance, she says Madhuri Dixit is one of the best dancers she has worked with while Sonam Kapoor is one of the worst!

In this interview with Patcy N, Khan  rates the top actors and actresses, and reveals their dance secrets.

I don’t think there is any dance in (Mallika’s item number in Double Dhamaal) Jalebi Bai. The poor thing is just shaking her waist in circular movements! After that, she’s running from one corner to another. There’s no dance. Source

Mallika Sherawat & Vivek Oberoi In KLPD

Its official, Mallika Sherawat has been signed opposite Vivek Oberoi in Amit Chandrra’s KISMAT LOVE PAISA DILLI (KLPD). Incidentally the film has been in the headlines off late as it was taken to be the sequel to the Director Sanjay Khanduri’s 2007 sleeper hit EK CHALLIS KI LAST LOCAL, with the name GYARAH CHALLIS KI LAST METRO doing the rounds. However the most interesting facet of the development of this film is the signing of Mallika Sherawat.

The source also goes onto add that when Sanjay and Amit approached Mallika with the script of KLPD that had the actress playing a parallel lead to the actor, Mallika readily agreed to do the film as she felt the role was too good to let go off and was excited to play a content driven lead, which she hasn’t done ever since PYAR KE SIDE EFFECTS, in which her performance was highly appreciated. Enjoy The Hillarious Comedy & Spice In Double Dhamaal

One can’t deny the fact that there are a lot of expectations from DOUBLE DHAMAAL due to it being a franchise. While it is certainly expected that all four principal protagonists (Riteish, Arshad, Javed, Ashish) coordinate well to make the scene look seamless, audience is also looking forward to the film giving ‘double the entertainment’.

“I think now all four of us are pretty much in synch in each other,” says Riteish, “We all have started thinking alike. I don’t think now we would look like four actors just doing our job. We behave pretty much alike and are more like one actor in four different bodies.” More

Mallika Sherawat’s Father Is A Driver

Like Sanjay Dutt, his chauffeur Prasad also loves to act. Having been part of the Dutt household for ages (he has been driver to Sanjay’s mother Nargis as well as to his sister Priya during her student days), he feels some of the acting skills of his boss have rubbed on to him.

To fulfill his wish, the star made him act out one scene in Double Dhamaal with full costume and make-up. His co-star was Mallika Sherawat and though he had to play her father, he was absolutely thrilled!

Says a unit source, “They told him to act like a typical Hindi film dad. It was an emotional scene with MS pleading with him, but he remaining adamant.

And then suddenly, he is overcome with pain and suffers a heart attack.”
Adds the source, “It was Sanjay who requested director Indra Kumar to take Prasad for the scene. More
