Mnaisha Koirala – Launching Books In Nepal

The classic actress Manisha Koirala, who became unpopular in her own country Nepal five years ago by supporting the army-backed coup of King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah, is set to lend a helping hand to another member of the former royal family. Next month, Manisha, who now also has a foot in the Nepali film industry, will launch in New Delhi’s Oberoi hotel a third novel penned by Sheeba Shivangini Shah, who is married to the nephew of the deposed king, Lt Col Bikash Bikram Shah.

“Facing my Phantoms”, published by Rupa, is a semi-autobiographical novel, tracing the migration of Sheeba’s family, the turmoil in Nepal, the reign of four different kings and the 10-year Maoist insurgency. The book launch is being handled by an event management company. The list of invitees includes the media, socialites and a virtual Who’s Who of India and Nepal.

A special list will be drawn up by Devyani Singh nee Rana, whom Nepal’s crown prince Dipendra wanted to marry before he died in a carnage in the palace in which the then king and queen also perished. The April 24 launch will be followed by a second one in Kathmandu at the Hotel de l’Annapurna where the former royal family still holds stakes. The 34-year-old former princess debuted as an author in 2003 with “Loyals of the crown”, a mammoth tale of the court intrigue and bloodbath in 1846 when a junior queen of the Shah dynasty ordered a mass killing of noblemen in revenge after her lover was murdered. Now established as a serious writer with three novels, Sheeba’s next venture will be a coffee table book.

Sheeba herself is also eyeing Bollywood. Source

Manisha Koirala Refuses To Work With Amol Palekar

Manisha Koirala was overwhelmed when she was offered a role by actor-turned-director Amol Palekar in his new film. But later she refused to accept the role as it turned out to be just a cameo.

“I’d have loved to work with Amolji. It was an interesting character, that of a Buddhist monk. I’d have given my right arm to play the role, if only I had at least two scenes… achcha chalo, only one meaty scene. I’ve never believed in measuring my roles in terms of playing time. Lekin kuch to hona chahiye… (but something should be there).”

Manisha had to reluctantly say no. “It broke my heart. Because I’m into Buddhism. And I want to work with Amolji.” She expected Palekar to offer her yet another opportunity to relive her golden days of “Khamoshi”, “Bombay” and “Dil Se”.

Now the role has gone to Antara Mali who was last seen in Ram Gopal Varma’s “Main Madhuri Dixit Ban-na Chahti Hoon” and “Naach”. Source

Manisha Koirala – Out Of Evergreen Dev Anand’s Film

manishakoirala1.jpg

Manisha Koirala is thrown out from evergreen actor-filmmaker Dev Anand’s upcoming flick Chargesheet. Divya Dutta has been asked to step into her shoes.

A source from Bollywood revealed, “Dev saab had discussed the project with Manisha, who had said that she was keen to do the film. But thereafter Manisha did not respond to Dev saab’s calls. After a few days, she messaged him that she was in the US. Dev did not like this a bit. He wanted to begin the shooting right away and expected Manisha to be in India. Dev felt that Manisha should have at least informed him before leaving for the US.”

Dev Anand confirmed the story and said, “It’s true that Manisha is no longer doing Chargesheet. I have now taken Divya Dutta, who is a very talented actress. Manisha sent me a text message saying that she was not in India. And I said, ‘ab yeh chakkar mein mujhe nahin padhna’. So, I called up Divya and like a true professional, she readily agreed.”

Chargesheet is a murder mystery, which went on the floors on August 16. Despite a text message, Manisha remained unavailable for comment. Source

Manisha Koirala Breaks Up With Boyfriend Chris

21manisha1.jpg

Manisha Koirala has just split with golfer boyfriend Chris, whom she has been dating over the past one year. The actress made the announcement herself on her Facebook account. Manisha’s status on Facebook has now gone from being In A Relationship to Single.

Our sources reveal that one of the major reasons for the relationship failing was distance. Chris, a professional golfer, was constantly touring in the US, while Manisha was spening most of her time in Mumbai, as she has a few things lined up, professionally. The split was a mutual decision and the couple remain in touch with each other.

After having failed relationships in the past, Manisha was hesitant to go public with Chris. “Whenever he was in town, they would usually hang out at her place or with some friends. She wanted to shield her relationship from the public eye as well as the media. Her relation with Chris was one of the most private affairs she’s had.” Manisha remained unavailable for comment. Manisha Koirala Romances With Paris

manisha.jpg

For Manisha Koirala Paris is the city that has captured her attention completely. “I’ve always been a wanderer. I’ve always gone with my heart. But my romance with Paris has outlasted all others, “she says with contagious joie de vivre.

Believe it or not but yes, Manisha is buying herself a home in Paris. She has already zeroed in on Saint Germaine as the locality in Paris where she wants to make herself a reliable getaway.

“I’ve been away from Mumbai for so long. It’s good to be back. Mumbai will always be my home. But Paris and I seem to be attached in strange unexpected ways. I’ve always found the city extremely romantic. Paris just oozes art culture tradition and bonhomie. Every time I go there I feel completely at home.”

Recently Manisha took a longish break to be in Paris alone. “And I absolutely loved it. That’s when I decided I wanted a second home. I’m in the process of buying my dream home there. But Mumbai will always be home.
Family, says Manisha, comes first for her above career and self-fulfilment. “Recently we were all together when my father fell ill. I saw how my mother looked after my father. Some day in the near future I hope to be an equally good wife and mother.” More
