Shaukeen, the 1980 Basu Chatterjee comic film about three old men lusting after a girl next-door, is all set to be remade by Rumi Jaffery. Akshay Kumar has been roped in to reprise Mithun Chakraborty’s role from the original in the remake of Basu Chatterjee’s comedy,Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher have been cast as the three lecherous old men.Interestingly, this will be the first time that Akshay will be seen romancing Nargis Fakhri.

Though in the original, Mithun’s part was a small role, the remake will apparently change the part to fit in Akshay. Further reports suggest that Akshay has not charged his usual fee for this film as it is not a full length role, but he will have a stake in the film. “More than anything else, Akshay has given his nod for the remake because he is happy with the way his character has been etched out by Rumi. He will shoot for the film mid-2013,” says an industry insider, adding, “The makers were also very keen to cast a completely new pair in the film. So Nargis fit the bill.”

Although it’s a remake of Chatterjee’s comedy, Rumi is believed to have rewritten it to suit today’s times. In fact, the film’s will now be based in Thailand instead of Goa. “So you will see three old men trying to woo Nargis on beautiful Thai beaches. The film won’t remind you of the old Shaukeen in terms of setting and treatment,” adds the insider.

Nargis Fakhri might have failed to entice the audiences with her performance in debut film Rockstar, but here the sexy lady is ready to prove her worth with her next release Madras Café.

The shooting of John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri starrer MADRAS CAFE which is going in full swing, as per the buzz in the trade, is scheduled to release on 30 August, 2013.

Apart from John Abraham, the film stars Nargis Fakhri and debutante Rashi Khanna in pivotal roles. ‘Madras Café’ is being produced jointly by JA Entertainment, Viacom 18 and Rising Sun Films.

Abraham tweeted about the release of the film recently, “My film “Madras Cafe” releases on the 30th of August. This is my next after “Vicky Donor”. A film that is very close to my heart.”

With the film, the hit producer-director jodi of John and Shoojit Sircar from Vicky Donor is back, however this time John has two roles to play, as he also acts in the film. This will be John’s second production. Madras Café is set in India and Sri Lanka.

No doubts, Nargis Fakhri made a successful debut in Bollywood with Rockstar but we have to agree that it was Ranbir Kapoor’s stupendous performance that garnered all the attention in the film. Nargis too caught attention, but it was of critics, who showered flaks on her for zombie-like performance.

Needless to say, the film that worked wonders for the lead actor, did precious little for her career. The threefilm-deal that Nargis had reportedly signed with Akshay Kumar’s production house Hari Om Productions even before her first film released, seems to have been called off as well. In fact, the first film of the deal, Khiladi 786, has Asin as the leading lady, instead of Fakhri. And though a friend of the actress insists that Nargis has two film offers she can’t talk about right now, Mirror has learnt that the one-film-wonder already has a Plan B ready.

But is Fakhri is definitely not fretting. Though today the babe has precious li’l on her plate as far as B-town movies are concerned but looks like the pouty faced actor has a back-up plan all ready! Quiz the babe about what she would like to do apart from twiddling her thumbs and she says, “I want to help people, be of some service, you know. Maybe become like Oprah Winfrey some day.” Whoa! Now that’s some ambition, no? Or is it just wishful thinking? We think it’s more of the latter.Though some may think that television is her backup plan, Imtiaz Ali still swears by her talent. However, sources from the industry feel that other filmmakers have failed to warm up to the US based model. And the reasons they say, could be varied. According to sources, apart from the flak she received for her performance in Rockstar, the fact that she is based in the US may have worked against her film career. Perhaps on the small screen, she will fare better.

Nargis Fakhri is in no mood for any link-ups. The American model-turned-actress was visibly upset when she was questioned about her recent photograph with industrialist Ness Wadia.

Nargis was clicked giving Wadia, actress Preity Zinta’s former beau, a casual hug and a peck on the cheek, after filmmaker Karan Johar’s birthday party last month. After the photograph was published in a tabloid, rumour mills regarding their relationship status started working overtime.

The “Rockstar” actress is defensive about it.

“Where is the woman with whom I walked out… whoever clicked it, seems to have cropped it. In my country, we meet people and say hello with a hug and kiss. Being courteous to other human beings is how everyone should be. I think it was all misinterpreted,” she said at an event here.

Alright, we know Bollywood has matured by leaps and bounds since those ‘birds-locking-their-beaks’ days, and an innocuous kiss to an acquaintance shouldn’t consume much newsprint, but when the lips happen to be that of the super-pouty Nargis Fakhri and the receiving cheek of a certain Mr. Moneybags, the talk flies around.

So it has turned out that the peck that one-film-old Nargis Fakhri planted on the suave and shaven Ness Wadia at Karan Johar’s birthday party at a suburban five star hotel on May 25 has now become the talk of the town.

It is being reported that Nargis Fakhri and Ness Wadia were spotted chatting animatedly at the party and for the 40 odd minutes that Nargis stayed at the party, she stuck by Ness’s side. Obvious, Preity Zinta, Ness’s ex — or rather whose ex Ness is — kept to her own gang of friends.

What caught the photogs attention was that Ness Wadia took the trouble of seeing Nargis off to her car outside the hotel. Hmm…so is something cooking between Nargis Fakhri and Ness Wadia? More

Nargis Fakhri is excited about bagging her latest Khiladi 786 with the original Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar. However, rumors surfacing about Kumar coming to her rescue have left her miffed. Buzz was that Akshay came to her rescue with three films under his banner after Fakhri failed to get any offers post Rockstar.

When asked about this bit of news, she was quoted saying, “That is a strange statement, I don’t find it valid.”

However ask her about the film itself, in which she is sharing screen space with the Rowdy Rathore star, she is excited to bits. She was quoted saying, “I am glad I am getting to work with Akshay Kumar, that too in a comedy. At least the first of the three is a comedy. There were many scripts coming in but I wanted to do something fun. When I first came to Mumbai, I happened to see Akshay’s face on a bus, and I screamed, ‘I know this guy, he is a funny man, I like him’. Now it is so cool to work with him. Source

One may get bored seeing so many awards function happening now and then, but what doesn’t fail to interest many is the razzmatazz on the red carpet – divas walking in their most stunning outfits, flashing their smiles worth a thousand watt.

At BIG Star Young Entertainer Awards 2012, we spotted some of the gorgeous faces from showbiz on the red carpet. Priyanka Chopra arrived wearing a black gown with thin straps, but we saw a red carpet stunner in Nargis Fakhri. The Rockstar babe chose a royal blue gown which looked opulent because of its trail. The classy updo also enhanced her statuesque personality.

Other than Nargis Fakhri, we appreciated what we saw on Aditi Rao Hydari. The quirky short dress in lace and fur was a pleasure to watch at the red carpet, and the credit goes to the designer Deepti Pruthi. We can expect surprises from this young designer who has Sonam Kapoor in her clientele. Recently Sonam wore a sari by Deepti Pruthi while attending the Elie Saab show at Paris Fashion Week, and created quite a stir at the international fashion scene.

5) Don 2

Panned by many critics, this film makes it to the list for not only being the first genuinely slick action flick of Bollywood, but also because it brought  back memories of a Shahrukh Khan we didn’t despise. Don 2, despite its slow pacing and rather humdrum plot, worked rather gloriously because the Don himself got to deliver some fun punchlines; wear masks of actors far more good looking than him and romance the girl with the sexiest pout in Asia, Priyanka Chopra. Looking back at the year, this is the only mega hit of 2011 that was actually fun to sit through.

4) Stanley Ka Dabba

This film should be much higher up, if only it wasn’t for the lack of its mainstream elements. Yet, this is a small-scale, simple and spectacular film that works as effectively in providing a refreshing twist to the poor state of children’s cinema in India as it does in tugging at the heartstrings without trying too hard. The Partho kid is rather neat, but his father, director Amole Gupte (the writer of Taare Zameen Par) is the one who takes the cake here. A must-see!

3) Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

This film is in our list because this is, by far, the best looking flick of the year, a tour-guide to Spain that unimpressively breezed through much frivolity and mush before taking off the covers and showing us a heart and a soul. This was mainstream, commercial cinema that had something to say — and while the underlying theme was rather stale — the packaging was pretty damn great. Katrina rode a bike all the way through Barcelona only to give a man a kiss, Hrithik Roshan stood opposite her to complete the fantastic looking pair and Farhan Akhtar rose above the role to truly give a heartfelt performance.

2) The Dirty Picture

First banned and then unbanned in Pakistan, this gutsy film is perhaps the most unforgettable feature film of the year. The rigorously censored version in Pakistani theatres should be given a miss. This one is to be seen at home, late at night when kids and parents have been put to sleep. Revolving around a vulgar little South Indian item girl, The Dirty Picture is far braver an achievement than Delhi Belly — another push-the-envelope feature — simply because it uses a female to forward the theme. And what a female she is! Vidya Balan — a genuine actor revelling in her onscreen glory with such remarkable glee — is the one reason why this film is so high up on this list. Trendsetting stuff!

1) Rockstar

Take a bow, ladies and gentlemen. In a year when Aamir was absent, Hrithik was sleepy, Shahrukh and Salman were busy baking blockbuster recipes; one guy stood up and showed them all who the real daddy of performance is. Ranbir Kapoor and this realistic story of music, love and pain are not stuff that Bollywood is used to. Kapoor is a superstar and a spectacular actor who knows how to pull off both sides of him at the same time.

Now that Nargis Fakhri has made the fact quite clear that Bollywood is the place she wants to be in, she is pretty much continuing her learning curve. Even as she fine tunes her acting skills post ROCKSTAR, she is going through regular Hindi classes to be better prepared for her next film.

“Yes, I haven’t left them behind,” she smiles, “As I have always maintained, I had never thought that I would pursue acting one day. In fact I wasn’t even aware about how to go ahead with it. Then ROCKSTAR happened and I had to start learning Hindi from scratch. Even though my father spoke Urdu, I had never picked up the language. However there is no escaping that today. I have made up my mind to be in this part of the world which means Hindi is a definite requirement.”

While language is one of her concerns that Nargis is trying dissolve, what adds on to her tough journey is the fact that she is trying to make it all by herself in Mumbai. More
